Skating at Rockefeller Center in New York City

Hello to everyone in the great Liketu community!!! Today I would like to share with you a memory that, to be honest, is one of the best I have, and it's about the day I skated at Rockefeller Center in New York.

For me, it was like being in a dream, since I always saw those American rinks in the movies and never imagined that someday I would be there.

That experience was also a bit strange, as it was my first trip alone. I had been saving for many years to go with a friend, and when suddenly no one wanted to go, I decided that my travels were not going to depend on anyone else, so I arranged it.

To my surprise, my parents organized a separate trip to the same destination on the same date. I remember being very angry, because I felt like I was being invaded. But luckily, they made their lives, I made mine. They stayed I don't know where and I stayed in my hostel, the one I had booked during the organization of that first trip alone.

My parents arrived in New York the same day I did, but they left earlier.

I bring them up, because of the 3 or 4 times I saw them on that trip, one of them, my dad paid me the entrance fee for that skating rink, which was USD 50. The truth is that if he didn't do it, I doubt very much that I would have paid it, because he was controlling the expenses quite a lot. So he made me very happy with that gift.

I had only skated on ice once, in Bariloche, Argentina, so I was a bit like the kids who were in that same rink in New York, learning to skate, hehe. But nothing mattered to me.

Feeling that edge of the skate and moving with it is one of the most fascinating sensations I know. I really enjoy skating, and although the ice is different from the asphalt, the technique is the same.

In that case, the magic of New York was added! I was very lucky, as my trip was between late September and early October. They opened the track on one of those first days of October, in what would be New York's autumn.

The lights, flags, the music with which the track was set (modern, eighties, very funny), made that place the perfect place to live a wonderful experience!

Patinando en el Rockefeller Center de Nueva York

Hola a todos en la genial comunidad de Liketu!! Hoy quisiera compartir con ustedes un recuerdo que, para ser sincera, es uno de los mejores que tengo, y se trata del día que patiné en el Rockefeller Center de Nueva York.

Para mi, aquello fue como estar en un sueño, ya que siempre veía esas pistas de Estados Unidos en las películas y nunca imaginé que algún día yo estaría allí.

Esa experiencia fue un tanto extraña igualmente, ya que se trataba de mi primer viaje sola. Había estado ahorrando durante muchos años para poderme ir con algún amigo o amiga, y como de pronto nadie quería ir, decidí que mis viajes no iban a depender de nadie más, así que lo preparé.

Para mi sorpresa, mis padres organizaron aparte un viaje al mismísimo destino en la misma fecha. Recuerdo que me enojé muchísimo, porque sentí que me estaban invadiendo. Pero por suerte, ellos hicieron su vida, yo la mía. Ellos se hospedaron no se donde y yo estuve en mi hostel, el que había reservado durante la organización de aquel primer viaje sola.

Mis padres llegaron a Nueva York el mismo día que yo, pero se fueron antes.

Los traigo a ellos a colación, porque de las 3 o 4 veces que los vi en aquel viaje, una de ellas, mi papá me pagó la entrada para esa pista de patinaje, que salía USD 50. La verdad es que si él no lo hacía, yo dudo mucho que lo hubiese pagado, porque estaba controlando bastante los gastos. Así que me hizo muy feliz con aquel regalo.

Yo sólo había patinado sobre hielo una vez, en Bariloche, Argentina, así que era un poco como los niños que estaban en esa misma pista de Nueva York, aprendiendo a patinar, jeje. Pero nada me importaba.

Sentir ese filo del patín y moverte con él es una de las sensaciones más fascinantes que conozco. Disfruto mucho patinar, y aunque es diferente el hielo al asfalto, la técnica es la misma.

En aquel caso, se sumaba la magia de Nueva York! Tuve mucha suerte, ya que mi viaje fue entre fines de septiembre y principios de octubre. Inauguraron la pista en uno de esos primeros días de octubre, en lo que sería el otoño de Nueva York.

Las luces, banderas, la música con que ambientaban a la pista (moderna, ochentona, muy divertida), hacían de aquel lugar, el sitio perfecto para vivir una maravillosa experiencia!
