Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.
Di certo, pero, era stato il Patriota ad uscirne con le ossa rotte, conscio, per la prima volta nella sua vita, di essere di fronte a qualcuno in grado di batterlo, o almeno di provocargli un livido sul volto (come noterà Maeve in questo episodio).
Soldier Boy, dal canto suo, nonostante tale incontro, è sembrato voler tirare dritto per la sua strada, perseguendo con determinazione il suo obiettivo numero uno, ovvero trovare, smantellare e massacrare l'intero team dei 7 che 40 anni prima lo aveva tradito e regalato agli odiati russi.
In questo settimo episodio è la volta di Mindstorm, nascosto tra i boschi nel tentativo di restare lontano dai sussurri e dai pensieri della gente comune, oltre che dei super come lui.
Hughie, e soprattutto Butch, gli daranno una mano, figlia di quell'accordo che vedrà Soldatino aiutarli ad uccidere Homelander ma solo dopo aver passato al setaccio la sua vecchia squadra ed averla eliminata.
Grazie a questo vecchio super, infatti, riusciamo a rivivere gli eventi traumatici che hanno caratterizzato l'infanzia, e l'adolescenza, di Butch, rendendolo, di fatto, il Billy sfrontato, sboccato, irriverente ed egoista che conosciamo oggi.
.
Soldier Boy è stato fatto fuori dalla Vought, 40 anni prima, poichè su piazza stava arrivando un super eroe ancora più forte ed indistruttibile di Soldatino.
Trattasi, come è facile immaginare, di Homelander.
Quello che però non potevamo immaginare accadesse, o che almeno non accadesse cosi velocemente, è che la provetta da cui nacque Homelander contenesse il seme di Soldier Boy stesso.
Homelander è il figlio di Soldier Boy è la rivelazione con cui si chiude l'episodio rimandando a scenari quasi da Skywalker - Darth Vader ed a un capolgimento di fronte che potrebbe portarci chissà dove.
Butch decide di non ascoltarla. Hughie ne è ignaro.
La posta in gioco è troppo alta.
Il finale sta arrivando.
Starlight riesce ad aggiungere carne sul fuoco pubblicando un video in cui Homelander confessa l'omicidio di Supersonic.
Basterà?
Per noi spettatori si.

As usual today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to give you constantly, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see at www.serialfiller.org.
After the events of Herogasm it was fair to expect great things from the penultimate episode of the third season of The Boys.
So it was, although, perhaps, what happened does not match what we had imagined in our little heads, and this, probably, represents the plastic demonstration of how capable The Boys is of keeping the level high and surprising without ever falling prey to the desire to please the audience, and to please them, at all costs.
The first match/clash between Old Boy and Homelander had ended, in fact, in a draw to put it in sports language.
Certainly, though, it was the Patriot who had come out with broken bones, aware, for the first time in his life, that he was facing someone capable of beating him, or at least causing a bruise on his face (as Maeve will note in this episode).
Soldier Boy, for his part, in spite of such an encounter, seemed to want to shoot straight, determinedly pursuing his number one goal, which is to find, dismantle and slaughter the entire team of 7 that 40 years earlier betrayed him and gave him away to the hated Russians.
In this seventh episode, it is Mindstorm's turn, hiding in the woods in an attempt to stay away from the whispers and thoughts of ordinary people, as well as supers like himself.
Hughie, and especially Butch, will lend him a hand, a child of the arrangement that will see Soldier Boy help them kill Homelander but only after sifting through his old team and eliminating them.
Mindstorm will be a tough opponent but its function in this episode will be far from exhausting, and flattening out, to that of the sacrificial victim.
Thanks to this old super, in fact, we get to relive the traumatic events that shaped Butch's childhood, and adolescence, making him, in fact, the brash, foul-mouthed, irreverent and selfish Billy we know today.
The main raison d'être of Mindstorm's presence, however, is tied to the final whisper, the one that will lead us to a revelation we dreaded and which is revealed in deflagrating power as the episode ends.
Soldier Boy was taken out by Vought, 40 years earlier, because an even stronger and more indestructible superhero than Soldier Boy was coming on the scene.
This is, as is easy to imagine, Homelander.
What we could not imagine happening, however, or at least not happening so quickly, is that the test tube from which Homelander was born contained the seed of Soldier Boy himself.
Homelander is Soldier Boy's son is the revelation with which the episode closes, harkening back to almost Skywalker - Darth Vader scenarios and a forehead-to-forehead reversal that could take us who knows where.
Who will stop the father-son pair?
How to stop the advance of as many as 2 invincible superheroes?
Hughie and Billy, they will no longer be able to rely on Temp V, or at least that is what Starlighi advises Butcher just before the end of the episode. The lasting effects of taking it would be lethal.
Butch decides not to listen to her. Hughie is oblivious to this.
The stakes are too high.
The finale is coming.
Starlight manages to add meat to the fire by releasing a video in which Homelander confesses to Supersonic's murder.
Will it be enough?
For us viewers, yes.
At least for now.
