Splinterlands Tower Defense Presale: All Purchase Cases Evaluations and Considerations
Today September 2022 at 4:00 PM ET/ 1:00 PM PT/ 8:00 PM UTC the Splinterlands Tower Defense Presale event will begin.
Splinterlands Tower Defense is a new Splinterlands strategy game being developed by 30 employees of Double Coconut.
Splinterlands Tower Defense will be, at least initially, a Player versus Environment (PvE) and not a Player versus Player (PvP) like Splinterlands.
In the image below you can see a concept art of the Tower Defense game published by Splinterlands in one of its recent post.
The presale of Tower Defense packs will start today September 20 but the release of the game with the contextual possibility of opening card packs will take place between the end of this year and the beginning of next year as also indicated in the Road Map of the project (see image below).
In today's post I want to provide my readers with some useful information about the upcoming Splinterlands Tower Defense presale and the topics you will find as you continue reading are as follows:

Tower Defense Presale Info
In less than 24 hours it will be possible to purchase Tower Defense card packs from the Shop section of the Splinterlands website.
At the time of writing this post there is no presale page yet but it will be available before the presale starts.
The total number of packs of the Tower Defense (SPLTD) game will be 2000000 (2 million) units.
The mode of sale of SPLTD packs will be the same as the sale of Riftwatchers packs: there will be no time separation between presale and general sale because the sale will be continuous and only the first 500000 (500K) SPLTD packs sold will be considered presale packs and will be eligible to participate in the first airdrop of the limited edition Promo Hero card.
Note: Mechanisms will be utilized to avoid the technical issues that happened during the Riftwatchers presale (Presale FAQ).
There will be only two purchase methods to choose from to purchase an SPLTD pack during the presale:
- 5000 DEC + 1 VOUCHER token
- 5000 CREDITS + 1 VOUCHER token.
I have summarized and compiled in a more compact form (tabular) the main information regarding the sale of packs of the new Tower Defense game (see table below).
The benefits of Presale
The main benefit for participating in the Splinterlands Tower Defense presale is the chance to receive the limited edition Hero promo card that will be distributed via airdrop only to presale participants (those who purchase the first 250k packs).
Presale participants will have a chance to receive the Hero Promo Card based on the following probability percentages:
- 0.2% chance for each pack purchased during the presale (up to 250k packs sold)
Those who get 500 packs during the presale will get additional benefits:
- 1 guaranteed Hero promo card
- 1 Limited Edition Title
- 1 Limited Edition Avatar
- Closed Beta Access
There will be 5 total airdrops and the minimum amount of packs to be purchased to be guaranteed to receive at least one card from each airdrop will increase by 50 packs for each subsequent airdrop according to the following sequence:
- 250,000 packs sold - 500 packs purchased = 1 guaranteed Promo Hero (Presale phase)
- 500,000 packs sold - 500 packs purchased = 1 Promo Hero (General Sale)
- 1,000,000 packs sold - 550 packs purchased = 1 Tower (General Sale)
- 1,500,000 packs sold - 600 packs purchased = 1 Spell (General Sale)
- 2,000,000 packs - 650 packs purchased = 1 Tower (General Sale)
So those who purchase 650 packs during the presale will be assured of participating in all airdrops.
Main purchase cases and calculation of effective dollar cost
During the presale, each pack of SPLTD cards can be purchased by choosing between two purchase methods:
- 5000 DEC + 1 VOUCHER token.
- 5000 CREDITS + 1 VOUCHER token.
Therefore, the effective dollar cost of an SPLTD pack will depend on the market value that VOUCHER tokens and DEC tokens will have when the presale begins.
Today, September 20, 2022:
- 1 DEC token = 0.00140706 SWAP.HIVE = $0.00073871
- 1 VOUCHER token = 1.149999 SWAP.HIVE = $0.60374999$.
If when the presale begins the values of DEC tokens and VOUCHER tokens are the same as they are now the effective dollar cost of a pack of SPLTD cards will be $4.2973.
The value of $4,2973 is the result of the sum of the dollar value of 5,000 DEC tokens + the dollar value of 1 VOUCHER token.
Those who purchase a certain amount of SPLTD packs in a single transaction will receive a quantity of bonus packs and this bonus will allow for a decrease in the cost per pack.
Also as pointed out by @cryptomancer on the Splinterlands discord server bonus packs will also be counted for airdrops and for acquiring game titles.
Note that titles and promo cards are transferable while Avatar and Closed Beta access will be account-related benefits, so if you participate in a bulk purchase group, you will not be able to get Closed Beta access even if you reach the necessary purchase requirement.
The presence of bulk purchase bonuses and the counting of bonus packs for the airdrops are two elements that permit the identification of various cases of purchase.
I now show you various cases of purchase and for each I have calculated:
- the quantity of DEC tokens needed
- the quantity of VOUCHER token needed
- the effective dollar cost
- the cost per pack
- the number of benefits receivable
Case of Purchase: 1 to 99 packs of cards
Those who purchase an amount of SPLTD packs in the range 1-99 are not entitled to bonus packs and will spend $4.2973 for each pack purchased.
For example in the case of purchasing 99 packs of cards the total cost is 425.43$ and the probability of receiving a promo Hero card is 19.80%.
Case of Purchase: 100 packs of cards
Purchasing 100 packs of cards in a one transaction allows you to have 10% bonus which is equivalent to receiving 10 additional SPLTD packs for which DEC tokens or CREDITS are not needed but only VOUCHER tokens (1 VOUCHER per bonus pack).
In this case the total cost is $435.76.
The cost per pack is 3.96$ compared to the cost of $4.29 in the previous purchase case with a savings per pack purchased of 0.3358$.
Case of Purchase: 152 packs of cards
To have the probability of just over 1/3 (33.44%) of receiving 1 Hero promo card it is necessary to purchase 152 packs of cards in a single transaction.
In this case the total cost is 760000 DECs + 167 VOUCHERs = 662.36$ with a cost per pack equal to the previous purchase case: 3.9615$.
Case of Purchase: 230 packs of cards
To have the probability of just over 1/2 (50.60%) of receiving 1 Hero promo card it is necessary to purchase 230 packs of cards in a single transaction.
In this case the total cost is 1150000 DECs + 253 VOUCHERs = 1002.26$ with a cost per pack equal to the previous purchase case: 3.9615$.
Case of Purchase: 455 packs of cards
To be guaranteed to receive 1 Hero promo card it is necessary to purchase 455 packs of cards in a single transaction.
This is the purchase case that allows you to get all the benefits of presale with the least investment:
- 1 Hero promo card
- 1 Limited Edition Title
- 1 Limited Edition Avatar
- Closed Beta Access
In this case the total cost is 2275000 DECs + 500 VOUCHERs = 1982.43$ with a cost per packs slightly lower than in the previous case: 3.9609$.
Case of Purchase: 500 packs of cards
Purchasing 500 SPLTD packs in a single transaction allows you to receive an additional bonus of packs of 15%.
In this case you have a 15% chance of receiving a second Hero promo card in addition to the guaranteed promo card.
In this case you need 2500000 DEC + 575 VOUCHERS for a total cost of $2193.92.
The cost per pack decreases is 3.8155$ with a saving of $0.1460 per pack compared to the previous purchase case.
Case of Purchase: 870 packs of cards
Purchasing 870 packs of cards in a single transaction allows you to receive:
- a total of 1000 SPLTD packs.
- 2 guaranteed Hero promo cards
- 2 titles
- 1 avatar + Closed Beta Access (Note: Avatar and Closed Beta access are not transferable items but linked to the account)
In this case, the total cost is 3817.12$ and the cost per pack is 3.8152$.
Case of Purchase: 2000 packs of cards
Last, I want to show the purchase case that allows 20% bonus and the lowest cost per pack.
Those who buy 2000 SPLTD packs in one transaction will spend 10 million DEC and use 2400 VOUCHER for a total cost of 8836.06$ and are guaranteed to receive:
- 4 Hero promo cards
- 4 titles
- 1 avatar + Closed Beta Access (Note: Avatar and Closed Beta access are not transferable items but linked to the account)
- an additional probability of 80% of receiving a fifth Hero promo card.
In this case the cost per pack will be $3.6817.
Final Considerations
Participating in the Splinterlands Tower Defense presale is a subjective and personal decision to be made by each Splinterlands player/investor based on their personal predictions and after doing their own research and evaluation.

I have decided to participate in the Splinterlands Tower Defense presale but I do not currently have enough funds to be able to purchase 455 SPLTD packs and get all the benefits of the presale.
I may sell some second level tokens from the Hive blockchain to reach the required amount of DEC tokens but I am still undecided at the moment and will most probably choose between the following two purchase cases.
If you are a new Splinterlands player or you have simply never participated until now in a Splinterlands presale I would like to remind you that DEC tokens and VOUCHER tokens in order to be used during the presale must be in the in-game Splinterlands wallet and not on external marketplaces such as Hive Engine or TribalDex.
The presale might last only a few minutes and so if you want to participate I suggest you to be ready with everything you need (DECs + VOUCHERs) according to your purchase goals.

Oggi 20 settembre 2022 alle ore 4:00 PM ET/ 1:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM UTC inizierà l'evento Splinterlands Tower Defense Presale.
Splinterlands Tower Defense è un nuovo gioco di strategia targato Splinterlands al cui sviluppo stanno lavorando 30 impiegati della Double Coconut.
Splinterlands Tower Defense sarà almeno inizialmente un Player versus Environment (PvE) e non un Player versus Player (PvP) come Splinterlands.

La presale dei pacchi Tower Defense inizierà oggi 20 settembre ma il rilascio del gioco con la contestuale possibilità di apertura dei pacchi di carte avverrà tra la fine dell'anno in corso e l'inizio dell'anno prossimo come indicato anche nella Road Map del progetto (vedi immagine seguente).

Tower Defense Presale Info
Tra meno di 24 ore sarà possibile acquistare i pacchi di carte Tower Defense dalla sezione Shop del sito di Splinterlands.
Nel momento in cui scrivo questo post non c'è ancora una pagina dedicata alla presale ma sarà disponibile prima che la presale inizi.
Il numero totale dei pacchi del gioco Tower Defense (SPLTD) sarà di 2000000 (2 milioni) di unità.
La modalità di vendita dei pacchi SPLTD sarà la stessa della vendita dei pacchi Riftwatchers: non ci sarà una separazione temporale tra presale e vendita generale perchè la vendita sarà continua e solo i primi 250000 (250K) pacchi SPLTD venduti saranno considerati pacchi presale e potranno partecipare al primo airdrop della carta Promo Hero in edizione limitata.
Ci saranno solo due metodi di acquisto tra cui scegliere per acquistare un pacco SPLTD durante la presale:
- 5000 DEC + 1 token VOUCHER
- 5000 CREDITS + 1 token VOUCHER
Ho sintetizzato e ho raccolto in una forma più compatta (tabellare) le principali informazioni relative alla vendita dei pacchi del nuovo gioco Tower Defense (vedi tabella seguente).
I vantaggi della Presale
Il vantaggio principale per la partecipazione alla prevendita Splinterlands Tower Defense è la possibilità di ricevere la carta promo Hero in edizione limitata che sarà distribuita tramite airdrop solo ai partecipanti alla presale (chi acquista i primi 250k pacchi).
I partecipanti alla presale avranno la chance di ricevere la carta Promo Hero in base alle seguenti percentuali di probabilità:
- 0.2% di probabilità per ogni pacco acquistato durante la presale (fino a 250k pacchi venduti)
Chi durante la presale acquista 500 pacchi avrà ulteriori vantaggi:
- 1 carta promo Hero garantita
- 1 Limited Edition Title

Ci saranno 5 airdrop totali e il quantitativo minimo di pacchi da acquistare per avere la garanzia di ricevere almeno una carta da ogni airdrop aumenterà di 50 pacchi per ogni successivo airdrop in base alla seguente successione:
- 250,000 packs venduti - 500 pacchi acquistati = 1 Promo Hero garantita (Presale phase)

Chi acquista 650 pacchi durante la presale avrà la certezza di partecipare a tutti gli airdrops.
Principali casi di acquisto e calcolo del costo effettivo in dollari
Durante la presale ogni pacco di carte SPLTD potrà essere aquistato scegliendo tra due modalità di acquisto:
- 5000 DEC + 1 token VOUCHER
- 5000 CREDITS + 1 token VOUCHER
Per questo motivo il costo effettivo in dollari di un pacco SPLTD dipenderà dal valore di mercato che avranno i token VOUCHER e i token DEC quando la presale inizierà.
Oggi 20 settembre 2022:
- 1 token DEC = 0.00140706 SWAP.HIVE = 0.00073871$
- 1 token VOUCHER = 1.14999999 SWAP.HIVE = 0.60374999$.
Se quando inizierà la prevendita i valori dei token DEC e dei token VOUCHER saranno uguali a quelli attuali il costo effettivo in dollari di un pacco di carte SPLTD sarà di 4.2973$.
Il valore di 4.2973$ è il risultato della somma del valore in dollari di 5000 token DEC + il valore in dollari di 1 token VOUCHER.
Chi acquista un determinato quantitativo di pacchi SPLTD in un unica transazione riceverà un quantitativo di pacchi bonus e questo bonus permetterà di ottenere una diminuzione del costo per pacco.
Inoltre come precisato da @cryptomancer sul server discord di Splinterlands anche i pacchi bonus saranno conteggiati per gli airdrops e per l'acquisizione dei titoli di gioco.
Nota che i titoli e le carte promo sono trasferibili mentre l'Avatar e l'accesso alla Closed Beta saranno vantaggi collegati all'account e quindi se partecipi ad un gruppo di acquisto non potrai avere l'accesso alla Closed Beta anche se raggiungi il requisito di acquisto necessario.
La presenza dei Bonus bulk purchase e il conteggio dei bonus packs ai fini degli airdrops sono due elementi che permettono di individuare vari casi di acquisto.
Adesso ti mostro vari casi di acquisto e per ognuno ho calcolato:
- il quantitativo di token DEC necessario
- il quantitativo di token VOUCHER necessario
- il costo totale effettivo in dollari
- il costo per pacco
- il numero di vantaggi ricevibili
Caso di Acquisto: da 1 a 99 pacchi di carte
Chi acquista un quantitativo di pacchi SPLTD compreso nel range 1-99 non ha diritto a pacchi bonus e spenderà per ogni pacco acquistato 4.2973$.
Ad esempio nel caso di acquisto di 99 pacchi di carte il costo totale è di 425.43$ e la probabilità di ricevere una carta promo Hero è del 19.80%.
Caso di Acquisto: 100 pacchi di carte
Acquistare 100 pacchi di carte in un'unica transazione permette di avere il 10% di bonus che equivale a ricevere 10 pacchi SPLTD aggiuntivi per i quali non sono necessari i token DEC o i CREDITS ma solo i token VOUCHER (1 VOUCHER per ogni pacco bonus).

Chi acquisterà 2000 pacchi SPLTD in un'unica transazione spenderà 10 milioni di DEC e utilizzerà 2400 VOUCHER per un costo complessivo di 8836.06$ e avrà la garanzia di ricevere:
- 4 carte promo Hero
- 4 titoli
- 1 avatar + Closed Beta Access (Nota: Avatar e Closed Beta access non sono elementi trasferibili ma collegati all'account)
- una probabilità aggiuntiva del 80% di ricevere una quinta carta promo Hero.
In questo caso il costo per pacco sarà di 3.6817$.
Considerazioni Finali
Partecipare alla presale Splinterlands Tower Defense è una decisione soggettiva e personale che ogni giocatore/investitore di Splinterlands deve prendere in base alle proprie previsioni personali e dopo aver fatto le proprie ricerche e valutazioni.

Io ho deciso di partecipare alla presale Splinterlands Tower Defense ma non ho al momento i fondi sufficienti per poter acquistare 455 pacchi SPLTD e ottenere tutti i benefici della presale.
Potrei vendere alcuni token di secondo livello della blockchain di Hive per raggiungere il quantitativo di token DEC necessario ma sono ancora indeciso al momento e con molta probabilità sceglierò tra i due seguenti casi di acquisto.
Se sei un nuovo giocatore di Splinterlands o semplicemente non hai mai partecipato fino ad ora ad una presale di Splinterlands ti ricordo che i token DEC e i token VOUCHER per poter essere utilizzati durante la presale devono essere nel wallet interno al gioco di Splinterlands e non sui mercati esterni come ad esempio Hive Engine o TribalDex.
La presale potrebbe durare pochi minuti e quindi se vuoi partecipare ti consiglio di essere pronto con tutto l'occorente (DECs + VOUCHERs) in base ai tuoi obiettivi di acquisto.
