Ciao amici,

Santa Maria di Leuca: Family, sun and sea
Hello friends,
Santa Maria di Leuca is an enchanting and renamed Italian tourist destination.
A small town rich in history.
n fact, besides the beautiful sea, in Santa Maria di Leuca you can admire: a sanctuary built between 1720 and 1755, a smaller church with a beautiful mosaic floor, several nineteenth-century villas, an ancient watchtower dating back to the sixteenth century, a monumental waterfall and a charming white lighthouse.
I spent last weekend in Santa Maria di Leuca together with my family, my in-laws, my sister-in-law and my two grandchildren and together with the family of Letizia, the friend of my daughter Chiara's heart.
I really wanted to see the sea again, to dive into the waves and to play with my daughter between splashes of water and laughter.
They have been two beautiful, carefree and cheerful days but unfortunately spent too quickly ...
The following photo I took from the promenade of Santa Maria di Leuca.

Chiara's little finger indicates the lighthouse of Santa Maria di Leuca.
Last year I wrote a post about this fascinating lighthouse: The lighthouse of Santa Maria di Leuca.
In Santa Maria di Leuca there is a single and small beach.

The rest of the coast is rocky and for this reason almost all the bathing establishments are built on wooden platforms.

Under the bridge in the following photograph there is a small restaurant where you can taste excellent and tasty fish dishes.
The bridge also acts as a giant stone umbrella, protecting bathers from the hot summer sun.
Above the bridge is The Dead Man's Tower: a historic but now abandoned watchtower.

How much I missed the sea and the image of the moon reflected in its waves ...

The following photo I took from the waterfront, I liked the position of the moon with respect to the two boats ...

I am sentimentally very attached to Santa Maria di Leuca.
It is here that my daughter's feet received the salty kiss of the sea for the first time.
It is here that I have many good memories.
This is where I will return as soon as possible ...
