Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - Molten Ash Golem [ ENG/ITA ]

ENGLISH VERSION

With this post, I am taking part in the Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge, the subject of which is the card: Molten Ash Golem.

The contest in question involves analysing and using the card in battle.

There are two weekly Splinterlands-themed contests in which I am participating: Weekly Battle Challenge and Social Media Challenge.

The card: Molten Ash Golem
.

Molten Ash Golem is a Rare card of the Fire Spinter. A definitely peculiar card that at level one has unexceptional characteristics, as you can see from the picture just above. It starts gaining more powers from level five, until it reaches its peak at level 8.

At level 1 the card has these characteristics

  • Mana cost of 6 points.
  • 9 points Life
  • 1 point Ranged Attack
  • 1 point Speed
  • Skill: Close Range (monsters with Ranged Attack can attack from the first position)

All in all, it's a card that I personally use very little because I like to take advantage of the Meele attack of the Fire Splinter at the expense of the Ranged Attack. But at the end of the day it is a card that does its job if put in a position to do so.

But now to the Battle I faced using the Molten Ash Golem monster.

My line-up

Here are the cards I selected to make up my battle line-up

As you can see, it's a pretty strange line-up, but you'll understand more by looking at the battle limitations which we'll describe later.

For now, let's look at the line-up:

I chose Tarsa as summoner because of the fact that it gives one life point and one Meele Attack point to all my monsters deployed on the field.

In first position I chose Radiated Scorcher because in theory having the Shatter skill it could have destroyed the eventual armour of the opposing Tank if I had attacked first.

Next we find Grum Fireblade, the actual Tank that would soon take the first position. Why choose Grum? Personally I think the Bloodlust ability alone justifies this choice.

In third position we find Molten Ash Golem.

In fourth position we see Exploding Rats with its Blast ability.

Finally a 1 mana point Neutral card to close the line-up: Chaos Agent.

The Match Limitations

Here are the limitations for the match, now you will understand why I chose this.

  • Mana Cap set at 27 points.
  • Possibility to choose between Fire, Earth, Death and Dragon Splinters.
  • All monsters on the field have the Sneak ability: monsters attack from any position and attack the last monster of the opposing team instead of the first.

My strategy

Let's see now what my strategy was for this match, what strategy allowed me to make these choices for the fielding of cards, and what motivations led me to think I could win.

First of all I definitely wanted to take advantage of the Sneak ability and so the choice for me was easy: Splinter Fire.

Thanks to Tarsa, in fact, I was starting with a +1 Meele Attack to all my monsters and that was definitely a great thing.

In first position Radiated Scorcher to take advantage of the Shatter ability, if the opponent's first position monster had armour.

Right after that we find Grum. I was hoping to take advantage of the Sneak ability imposed by the limitations and thus start off at an advantage by going for Grum's Fireblade ability, Bloodlust. And then, of course, having him as a Tank would have been perfect.

Molten Ash Golem would store his arrows with his bow, and in case I lost Grum would also take the first position and use his Close Range skill.

Following that Exploding Rats would have been able to attack the opponent using his Sneak skill and could have amplified the damage done to the opponent with his Blast skill.

Chaos Agent is put there to be hit on the opponent's first turn and try to limit the damage.

The rounds of the Battle

Here are a few rounds of the match, I remind you that if you want to see the battle in its entirety in its natural course you can click on the link I left above :)

I leave the rest to your curiosity... will I have won? Have I lost? Find out by watching the battle ;)

So let us proceed to the conclusion. The question is: did I win? The answer is simple: YES! I won, of course! But the other legitimate question is: Did my strategy work?

Did my strategy work?

Million dollar question! No come on, just kidding. My strategy worked and it worked great! I was able to make the most of my cards thanks to the combination of essentially two factors: the summoner Tarsa (with his +1 Meele Attack bonus) and the ability contained in the Battle limitations, namely the Sneak ability (monsters attack the last opponent's monster instead of the first).

This combination gave me the opportunity to be able to attack and inflict damage on the opponent's monsters with Exploding Rats that hit for a good 4 rounds!

The only hiccup I hadn't calculated was Mycelic Slipspawn with its Taunt ability, which means that all monsters attack the monster with this ability. This destabilised my plans a bit because the Sneak ability was practically nullified by the Taunt ability, as my monsters attacked Mycelic Slipspawn until it fell. But Exploding Rats also dealt damage to monsters adjacent to Mycelic Slipspawn. Grum Fireblade did its duty as a tank and thanks to its Bloodlust skill gained strength round after round.

Molten Ash Golem did what he had to do, which was to stay on the field until the end and contribute to this victory!

VERSIONE ITALIANA

In terza posizione troviamo Molten Ash Golem.

  • Mana Cap fissato a 27 punti.

Subito dopo troviamo Grum.

No dai, scherzo.
