I haven't posted anything on here for too long, I hope to return regularly one day. For now, I'll tell you the big news! I have graduated, finally!
Over the past few months I had repeatedly written about my research in the archives on the subject of political and communal internees, and well I managed to complete it. On 21 July last, I defended my thesis in Naples at the Federico II University and was proclaimed Doctor of Historical Sciences. The discussion went extremely well, the committee listened carefully and was very intrigued by the results of my research. The questions were all interesting and I gladly answered the professors who asked me any. The grade, again, was very good. The maximum. I sincerely hoped for it, but realistically I didn't think I could even achieve honours.... but instead :))
To sum up, I researched the political and communal internees in my home town in Basilicata and found 31 personal files of men and women who served their sentences there from 1926 to 1943. Excellent results, albeit partial.
However, now perhaps the most difficult moment begins, we must understand what to do next. There are many thoughts, many goals. I hope I can achieve at least one of them.
In the meantime, I will spend this month of August working at the usual cocktail bar so that I can put aside some money to use around September/October.

Da troppo tempo non pubblico nulla qui sopra, spero di poter tornare regolarmente un giorno. Per adesso vi dico la grande novità! Mi sono laureato, finalmente!
Nei mesi scorsi avevo più volte scritto delle mie ricerche in archivio sul tema dei confinati politici e comuni, ebbene sono riuscito a portarle a termine. Lo scorso 21 luglio ho discusso la tesi a Napoli, all'Università Federico II e sono stato proclamato dottore in Scienze Storiche. La discussione è andata estremamente bene, la commissione ha ascoltato attentamente ed è stata molto incuriosita dai risultati delle mie ricerche. Le domande sono state tutte interessanti e ho risposto con piacere ai professori che me ne ponevano. Il voto, anche qui, è stato ottimo. Il massimo. Sinceramente ci speravo, ma realisticamente non pensavo di poter raggiungere anche la lode... e invece :))
Per tirare le somme, ho effettuato delle ricerche sui confinati politici e comuni nel mio paese natale in Basilicata ed ho rinvenuto 31 fascicoli personali di uomini e donne che vi scontarono la loro pena dal 1926 al 1943. Risultati ottimi, anche se parziali.
Ora inizia però forse il momento più difficile, bisogna capire cosa fare dopo. Sono tanti i pensieri, tanti gli obiettivi. Spero di poterne raggiungere almeno uno.
Nel frattempo passerò questo mese di agosto a lavorare al solito cocktail bar per poter mettere da parte qualche soldo da usare verso settembre/ottobre.
