Oggi voglio mostrarvi un piccolo trick che ho imparato lavorando su Gala Games, piattaforma per il gaming su blockchain molto promettente ma che al momento effettua le sue transazioni sulla rete di Ethereum. Questo implica che per ogni movimento dal nostro wallet di gioco ci troveremo ad affrontare fee molto alte e premetto già che questo è un ostacolo che ancora non sono riuscito a sormontare, probabilmente perchè il marketplace del gioco ancora non supporta altre reti al di là di Ethereum.
Cosa possiamo fare quindi per risparmiarci qualche soldo?
Li possiamo risparmiare non all'interno del gioco ma al di fuori, infatti sebbene Gala non supporti ancora la rete di BSC (o quella di Flare Network) il portafoglio che ci viene dotato al momento della creazione dell'account si! Questo significa che, al contrario di quanto riscontrato su Audius (comprensibile nel mio post di ieri) *, su Gala abbiamo la possibilità di esportare la chiave privata del nostro portafoglio e poterla importare su un'estensione come MetaMask; questo, come vedremo di seguito, ci darà la chance di utilizzarlo tramite BSC e quindi rifornire il nostro portafoglio senza utilizzare la rete Ethereum.

Today I want to show you a little trick that I learned working on Gala Games, platform for gaming on blockchain very promising but at the moment makes its transactions on the network of Ethereum. This implies that for each movement from our game wallet we will face very high fees and I already say that this is an obstacle that I have not yet been able to overcome, probably because the game marketplace still does not support other networks beyond Ethereum.
So what can we do to save some money?
We can save them not inside the game but outside, in fact although Gala doesn't support yet the BSC network (or the Flare Network) the wallet we are given when creating the account is! This means that, contrary to what we found on Audius (understandable in my post yesterday)*, on Gala we have the possibility to export the private key of our wallet and be able to import it on an extension such as MetaMask; this, as we will see below, will give us the chance to use it via BSC and thus replenish our wallet without using the Ethereum network.
ESPORTARE LA CHIAVE PRIVATA
Il primo passaggio che dobbiamo eseguire è esportare la chiave privata del nostro wallet di Gala (wallet Ethereum) e possiamo farlo in maniera molto rapida dalla piattaforma. Ci basterà effettuare il login col nostro account, cliccare sulla nostra immagine di profilo in alto a destra e scegliere Account dal menù a tendina (1). Questo aprirà la pagina dei settings e dovremo andare nella voce Advanced Settings (2); ora si renderà disponibile nella schermata il tasto Download Private Key (3) selezioniamolo ed inseriamo il nostro Codice di trasferimento per procedere col download.
NB: quando si parla delle chiavi private si parla dell'argomento più sensibile dei nostri wallet e come raccomandato nel riquadro giallo dobbiamo sempre avere attenzione quando eseguiamo operazioni del genere!
The first step we need to perform is to export the private key of our Gala wallet (Ethereum wallet) and we can do it very quickly from the platform. All we need to do is login with our account, click on our profile picture in the top right corner and choose Account from the drop-down menu (1). This will open the settings page and we have to go to Advanced Settings (2); now the Download Private Key (3) button will be available on the screen, select it and enter our Transfer Code to proceed with the download.
NB: when we talk about private keys we talk about the most sensitive subject of our wallets and as recommended in the yellow box we must always be careful when performing such operations!
IMPORTARE IL WALLET SU METAMASK
Il secondo step del nostro lavoro sarà quello di importare il portafoglio di Gala sul nostro MetaMask, anche in questo caso il procedimento è semplice ma fatelo sempre con cura e riguardo! Per prima cosa accediamo al nostro wallet MetaMask, andiamo nel menù dell'account (4) e selezionamo la voce Importa Account. Fatto questo ci verrà chiesta la chiave privata del wallet che vogliamo importare e noi andremo ad inserire quella scaricata precedentemente dall'account di Gala. A questo punto nel menù troveremo l'account appena importato che io per scrupolo ho rinominato GALA GAMES (6). Ora che abbiamo accesso al nostro wallet tramite MetaMask possiamo decidere di utilizzarlo sia da Ethereum sia da BSC (dobbiamo avere già inserito il network della Binance Smart Chain nel nostro MetaMask).
NB: come detto in prefazione il market interno di Gala non funzionerà con la BSC, questo passaggio ci serve solo per risparmiare fee nei trasferimenti da e verso il nostro wallet di Gala.
The second step of our work will be to import the wallet of Gala on our MetaMask, also in this case the process is simple but always do it with care and attention! First we access our MetaMask wallet, go to the account menu (4) and select the Import Account item. After that we will be asked for the private key of the wallet that we want to import and we're going to insert the one previously downloaded from the account of Gala. At this point in the menu we will find the account just imported that I have renamed GALA GAMES (6). Now that we have access to our wallet through MetaMask we can decide to use it both from Ethereum and BSC (we must have already inserted the network of Binance Smart Chain in our MetaMask).
NB: as said in the preface the internal market of Gala will not work with the BSC, this step is only useful to save fees in transfers to and from our Gala wallet.
SWAP TRA ETHEREUM E BSC
Ora che abbiamo la possibilità di usare il nostro wallet su entrambe le reti possiamo approfittare degli ormai famosi bridge che possono funzionare tra Ethereum e Binance Smart Chain. Questi bridge infatti permettono di trasferire i token che possediamo sul wallet tra l'indirizzo di Ethereum e lo stesso indirizzo ma di BSC!
Questo significa che possiamo rimpinzare il nostro portafoglio Gala da Binance trasferendo i token tramite BSC, una volta arrivati (con fee molto più confortabili di Ethereum) utilizzando uno di questi Bridge Swap li potremo trasferire sul network di Ethereum e utilizzarli quindi all'interno della piattaforma di Gala!
Io per questa occasione ho provato pTokens DApp (https://dapp.ptokens.io/) come suggerito nella sezione Support di Gala (https://support.gala.games/en_US/binance-smart-chain-network/999574-how-to-swap-gala-to-ptoken-gala-on-binance-smart-chain).
Now that we have the ability to use our wallet on both networks we can take advantage of the now famous bridge that can work between Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain. These bridges in fact allow us to transfer the tokens we own on the wallet between the Ethereum address and the same address but of BSC!
This means that we can replenish our Gala wallet from Binance transferring tokens through BSC, once arrived (with fees much more comfortable than Ethereum) using one of these Bridge Swap we can transfer them on the Ethereum network and then use them within the Gala platform!
For this occasion I have tried pTokens DApp (https://dapp.ptokens.io/) as suggested in the Support section of Gala (https://support.gala.games/en_US/binance-smart-chain-network/999574-how-to-swap-gala-to-ptoken-gala-on-binance-smart-chain).
CONCLUSIONI
Gala è sicuramente una piattaforma molto interessante che si sta sviluppando bene. Aspetto con ansia che arrivi un cambio di marcia per la questione fee (notizie di inizio anno parlavano di un accordo con Flare Network ma ancora non ne so nulla); nel frattempo imparare a conoscere tutti i nuovi mezzi che permettono la comunicazione tra le varie blockchain e sapere gestire i nostri portafogli può essere una chiave per eludere spese superflue e rendere più accessibili determinati ecosistemi.

Gala is definitely a very interesting platform that is developing well. I'm looking forward to a change of gear for the fee issue (news from the beginning of the year spoke of an agreement with Flare Network but I still don't know anything about it); in the meantime learning to know all the new means that allow communication between the various blockchains and knowing how to manage our wallets can be a key to avoid unnecessary expenses and make certain ecosystems more accessible.
