One evening Luca goes down to take out the garbage, but when he tries to return to his house, on the 20th floor of a suburban building, he discovers that another person lives in his apartment and that his life, as it was until some moment before, it no longer exists. From this moment on, new and unexpected adventures begin for Luca, which mix with the memories of his old life.

Get out of here

"Good morning, what do you want?" - the lady who opens the door to me seems to have a voice different from that of the night before.
I don't even struggle to answer.
I go down to the ground floor and the shy sun and the more acceptable temperature put me in a certain sense of good humor. Let's say they put me in a good mood to the point where one can be in a good mood in my situation. Thinking about it, I've never heard of anyone in my situation, so there's no real yardstick.
I am convinced that it is completely useless to stay in that building, indeed in that area. I have to find a way to arrive in the evening with some clothes and maybe even a place to sleep. Meanwhile, I try to find an explanation for what is happening to me but nothing sensible comes to mind.
In the meantime, the suspicion of having ended up in a sort of parallel universe is calcified in my mind, but I think that a single fact is not enough for such an unlikely thesis, at least for my rational mind. Of course, Elena has disappeared, there is another person in our apartment, but I can look for some other point of contact with my personal universe. Holy God, in my life there are friends, there is my mother, there is my brother Gianni, there are colleagues at work, before thinking of being finished somewhere else it takes some good checks!
Actually the closest place where I know someone is the hospital where Elena works, we have come to live in this hideous place mainly because it is so close to the hospital that Elena usually walks there. There are not many people I know among her colleagues, but some doctors, some head nurse, the usher ... there are several people who know me and can help me and maybe explain what happened.
While I make these beautiful arguments I walk towards the main entrance of the nursing home, the distance is about ten minutes on foot from the last building of our "residential complex", as real estate agencies define it, ghetto or dormitory as everyone else calls it.
Walking, hands in the disastrously empty pockets of my sweatpants, I begin to mull over again. It might be some kind of joke, but it's taking a little too long and then Elena should be in the way. Dario, we haven't heard from each other for a while, he would also be able to engineer something like that, but Elena? Elena's not the type, at least I think she's not the type, to play along. A very heavy game, too heavy. Maybe I did something to her, she wants me to pay for it. But what? I just can't think of anything that could justify such a complicated joke, which involves several people, which forces me to sleep like a bum, hidden in the building where I live.
