Melancholy of a street
Hello everyone dear friends and welcome back to my blog. Today I share with you my latest watercolor painting that I made yesterday on a rainy day.
The humid climate helps the watercolors to make the most of the surface of the wet sheet, and I took the opportunity to create this urban scene in the middle of autumn.
As usual, I invented the composition trying to convey the sense of melancholy that often pervades us looking at a wet street with few passers-by.
Below I share some passages with some explanation of the making of the watercolor.
- 1 - I made the pencil sketch of the composition
- 2 - with violet I started coloring the first buildings
- 3 - I colored other buildings with Sienna and blue and the street with Payne's gray.
- 4 - I painted the lights in some shop windows and the trees with ocher yellow, burnt sienna and Van Dick brown.
- 5 - I darkened the sky with gray and burnt sienna, the buildings in the background and the shop windows.
- 6 - Final results.
I added the reflections and the lights on the asphalt with the few pedestrians and I highlighted the geometries of the buildings with straight lines.

Malinconia di una strada
Ciao a tutti cari amici e ben tornati sul mio blog.
Oggi condivido con voi il mio ultimo dipinto ad acquarello che ho realizzato ieri in una giornata di pioggia.
Il clima umido aiuta gli acquarelli a rendere il massimo sulla superficie del foglio bagnato, ed io ne ho approfittato per realizzare questa scena urbana in pieno autunno.
Come al solito ho inventato la composizione cercando di trasmettere il senso di malinconia che spesso ci pervade osservando una strada bagnata con pochi passanti.
Di seguito condivido alcuni passaggi con qualche spiegazione della realizzazione dell'acquarello.
- 1 - Ho eseguito il disegno a matita della composizione
- 2 - Ho iniziato a colorare con il violetto i primi edifici
- 3 - Ho colorato altri edifici con la terra di Siena e il blu e con il grigio di Payne la strada.
- 4 - Ho dipinto le luci di alcune vetrine e gli alberi con giallo ocra, terra di Siena bruciata e bruno Van Dick.
- 5 - Ho scurito il cielo con il grigio e terra di Siena bruciata, i palazzi sullo sfondo e le vetrine.
- 6 - Risultato finale.
Ho aggiunto i riflessi e le luci sull'asfalto con i pochi pedoni ed ho evidenziato con delle linee rette le geometrie dei palazzi.
