Banksy in Rome - a beautiful exhibition at the Cloister of Bramante - first part

Who doesn't know Banksy?
He is currently the most famous street artist on the planet and Rome wanted to celebrate him at the Cloister of Bramante in a spectacular exhibition.
Over 100 works from private collections from all over the world are exhibited and there is also a video room with the projections of many works carried out on walls and on the streets around the world. So a few days ago I took the opportunity to go and see the exhibition event in the capital of Italy.
In my opinion, the exhibition, unlike that of 2016, the exhibition was very well organized with explanations and audio guides for each room, the soft lighting of the paintings and a lot of space between the works, in short, a must see.
This is the first post because I have divided my documentation on the exhibition into two articles due to the large amount of material I have put aside.
Who is Banksy?
He is an eclectic artist, or a collective of artists whose identity is unknown, in 14th place among the most influential characters on the planet. Some speculate that Banksy is Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack, or as I said before a collective of six artists gathered under the same name, the fact is that graffiti has suddenly appeared on the walls of all cities in the world for over 20 years.
Banksy's poetics and politics.
The objection and criticism that many make to Banksy is that he (or they) have enriched themselves by exploiting the capitalist system that they so denigrate and denounce with their works. These are points of view that I do not comment on, but I limit myself to reflecting on the hundreds of political, social and environmental complaints that the artist has made, even risking personally, over the course of 25 years. Street art created by Banksy in the most unthinkable places and often forbidden by institutions. Street Art that has influenced many young people and has opened new scenarios of visual protest.
However, the artist does a lot of charity and in 2019 he opened a shop in London Gross Domestic Product, a new shop in the Croydon neighborhood. The proceeds of the sales that take place only online are destined to charity to NGOs and in particular to the Open Arms which deals with rescues at sea.

"Girl with Balloon"
which first appeared in 2002. Used for the “Stand with Sirya” campaign to help the Syrian people destroyed by one of the most brutal wars of our times. This is the work that perhaps Banksy loves the most.

Banksy a Roma - una mostra bellissima al Chiostro del Bramante - prima parte
Ciao a tutti ragazzi e ben tornati sul mio blog.
Chi non conosce Bansky?
Attualmente è lo street artist più famoso del pianeta e Roma lo ha voluto celebrare al Chiostro del Bramante in una mostra spettacolare. Sono esposte oltre 100 opere provenienti da collezioni private di tutto il mondo e c'è anche una sala video con le proiezioni di moltissimi lavori eseguiti sui muri e per le strade di tutto il mondo. Così qualche giorno fa ho approfittato per andare a vedere la mostra evento nella capitale di Italia.
A mio parere la mostra, al contrario di quella del 2016, la mostra è stata organizzata molto bene con spiegazioni e audioguide per ogni stanza, l'illuminazione dei quadri soffusa e molto spazio tra le opere, insomma da vedere assolutamente.
Questo è il primo post perchè ho diviso la mia documentazione sulla mostra in due articoli per la grande quantità di materiale che ho messo da parte.
Chi è Banksy?
E' un artista eclettico, o un collettivo di artisti di cui non si conosce l'identità, al 14° posto dei personaggi più influenti del pianeta. Alcuni ipotizzano che Banksy sia Robert Del Naja dei Massive Attack, o come ho detto prima un collettivo formato da sei artisti riuniti sotto lo stesso nome, fatto sta che sono oltre 20 anni che improvvisamente appaiono graffiti sui muri di tutte le città del mondo.
Poetica e politica di Banksy.
L'obiezione e la critica che fanno molti a Bansky è quella che lui (o loro) si sono arricchiti sfruttando il sistema capitalistico che tanto denigrano e denunciano con le loro opere. Sono punti di vista che io non commento, ma mi limito a riflettere sulle centinaia di denunce politiche, sociali, ambientali che l'artista ha fatto, rischiando anche di persona, nel corso di 25 anni. Street art creata da Bansky nei posti più impensabili e spesso vietati dalle istituzioni.
Street Art che ha influenzato molti giovani ed ha aperto nuovi scenari di protesta visuale. L'artista comunque fa molta beneficenza e nel 2019 ha aperto un negozio a Londra il Gross Domestic Product, nuovo shop nel quartiere di Croydon. Il ricavato delle vendite che avvengono solo online viene destinato in beneficenza alle ONG ed in particolare alla Open Arms che si occupa di salvataggi in mare.
