PORTRAITS OF PLANTS ( FOURTEEN SPECIES IN NINETEEN PHOTOGRAPHS)

Today I'm gonna show you a bunch of wild plants that grow on the meadows here in my area. Have a good viewing.

In this opening tryptich, you can see a bunch of buds and flowers of the Dittrichia viscosa plant. I have only two reasons to put this plant in the opening picture. The first one is the attractiveness of the lovely yellow flowers, and the second one has something to do with the fact that horizontal pictures look much better than vertical ones when seen in the small format before you click on the post.

This is a portrait of the Osyris alba, a plant widespread in all countries of the Mediterranean basin. Here where I live, is very common on the sunny open terrains near the sea.

Here you can see the dry remains of a plant that I wasn't able to identify. It could be some kind of dead nettle or sage. Definitely something from the Lamiaceae family.

This is the Plantago media flowerhead.

Here you can see the stylish dry flowerhead of the Dipsacus fullonum plant.

This is the leaf of the Clematis vitalba, while in the following photograph ...

... you can take a look at the seeds of the same plant. Clematis vitalba is a climbing plant that, here in my area, often covers small trees, shrubs, and rocks in places close to the sea.

Here you can see two portraits of the Elymus repens grass in bloom.

This is a thistle flowerhead. I'm not sure about the exact species. It could be the Onopordum illyricum. Or Carduus nutans. Or some other thistle. Quite a few species are present in this area.

Here you can see the Agrimonia eupatoria flowers.

This is Mentha pulegium mint in bloom.

This is the Satureja montana.

Here you can see the small Petrorhagia saxifraga flowers.

The post started with a tryptich, and now, it will end in the same way. Here you see the dry Chrysopogon gryllus grass.

The following links will take you to the sites with more information about some of the protagonists of this post. I found some stuff about them there.
