Going for a walk in Chicago neighborhoods along city sidewalks can lead to many photo opportunities, but coming upon this community art project in the pedestrian foot tunnel at Berwyn & Ravenswood is delightful!

The pedestrian tunnel goes under the Metra tracks and connects the Bowmanville and West Andersonville communities in Chicago, and also provides access to Lake Michigan for both walkers and cyclists.

The design concept used for the theme of the tunnel is urban gardens and the four seasons, and the art was mainly created by volunteers and local families and is a combination of murals and mosaics.

Walking through the tunnel is a colorful part of any daily walk and you often meet people out walking their dogs. And everyone enjoys the bit of shade it provides on a hot summer day!
