Hello #Hive friends!.... This is my first collaboration in this community and I thought it was fantastic to come across this wonderful and "green" theme to participate, which happened thanks to the lovely post of my friend and excellent author @mipiano... So here I go with my photo essay...

Have you seen anything more tender today than this young "Iguana"?... The story begins with me wandering through the hills near my village, armed with my camera and a macro lens. The idea was to capture some insect photos, as the rainy season has already started here and thanks to this, the vegetation becomes lush and the insect populations increase dramatically.

¿Han visto algo mas tierno hoy que esta joven "Iguana"... La historia comienza conmigo deambulando por las colinas cercanas a mi pueblo, armado con mi cámara y un lente macro. La idea era capturar algunas fotos de insectos, pues la estación lluviosa ya ha comenzado aquí y gracias e esto, la vegetación se torna exuberante y las poblaciones de insectos se incrementan dramáticamente.

After photographing some butterflies and beetles on the edges of the forest, I decided to go a little deeper into the vegetation to observe some wasps which nest in the bamboos near the watercourses. I was exploring when suddenly WHAAAM!... There was a young iguana looking right at my face... What a shock, for a moment I thought it was a small tree snake (they are green like that too)!

Después de fotografiar algunas mariposas y coleópteros en los bordes del bosque, decidí adentrarme un poco en la vegetación para observar ciertas avispas las cuales hacen nidos en los bambúes cercanos a los cauces de agua. Me encontraba explorando cuando repentinamente ¡ZAS!... ¡He ahí una joven iguana observándome directamente a mi cara!... ¡Vaya susto, por un momento pensé que se trataba de una pequeña serpiente arbórea (también son así de verdes)!

I immediately realised that it was a young iguana (Iguana iguana). An individual of only about 20 centimetres in length (including its tail) and I felt very, very lucky. It was the first time that, carrying a macro lens with me, I had come across this type of reptile in such a favourable situation to take a lot of pictures.

De inmediato me percaté de que se trataba de una iguana (Iguana iguana) bastante joven. Un individuo de apenas unos 20 centímetros de longitud (incluyendo su cola) y me sentí muy, pero muy afortunado. Pues era la primera vez que, llevando conmigo una lente macro, me encontraba con este tipo de reptiles en una situación tan favorable para hacerle un montón de fotos.

Young iguanas tend to rely a lot on their camouflage and stay very still even when I get close to them, so that was a wonderful thing for my intention to take these pictures, as I was able to get my lens within 30-40 centimetres of it without disturbing it.

Las iguanas jóvenes acostumbran confiar mucho en su camuflaje y permanecen muy quietas aún cuando me les acerque, así que eso fue algo maravilloso para mi intención de hacer estas fotos, pues pude acercar mi lente a unos 30 o 40 centímetros de ella sin perturbarla

Obviously being a "photo shoot" in a virtually stationary environment, the settings used were relatively simple and I opted for the semi-automatic aperture (P) shooting mode with centre-point autofocus. Obviously, the aperture and ISO settings were made according to the shooting distance and the light condition (which was constantly varying due to being under the trees and with the sunlight coming and going as the clouds allowed it or not)... But I managed to avoid the use of flash in all the pictures and thanks to them this little iguana was there for quite a long time.

Obviamente al tratarse de una "sesión fotográfica" prácticamente en un entorno fijo, los ajustes utilizados fueron relativamente simples y opté por el modo de disparo semi-automático de apertura (P) con enfoque automático de punto central. Obviamente, los ajustes de apertura e ISO fueron hechos según la distancia de disparo y la condición lúminica (la cual variaba constantemente debido a estar bajo los árboles y con la luz solar yendo y viniendo según las nubes lo permitiesen o no)... Pero me las arreglé para evadir el uso del flash en todas las fotos y gracias a ellos esta pequeña iguana estuvo allí durante bastante tiempo.

TECHNICAL NOTE: All photos were taken in RAW format and then processed with Adobe Camera Raw for cropping, sharpening, colour temperatures, hue, lightness, depth and contrast. They were then exported as JPG format and minor adjustments such as partial vignetting and straightening were made in PhotoScape 3.6.1.

NOTA TÉCNICA: Todas las fotos fueron realizadas en formato RAW y posteriormente procesadas con Adobe Camera Raw para lo relativo a recortes, afilado, temperaturas de color, tono, luminosidad, profundidad y contraste. Posteriormente exportaron como formato JPG y se realizaron ajustes menores como viñetas parciales, y enderezamiento en PhotoScape 3.6.1.
