Hail to the Hive!
As spectacular as the Pyramids are there is also another side to Giza. Giza has built up to the very edges of the plateau on which the Pyramids stand and it is kind of weird to see them poking up in the background when roaming the bustling streets shopping for supplies or just heading out for a coffee.
I do love a bit of street photography, especially in #monochrome, but it is kind of odd to see a pyramid lurking in the background when taking this type of street shot.
Weird but still cool. A real contrast of worlds, the ancient and modern, both seemingly in various stages of decay.
It’s not just the buildings either that supply the contrasts as on the street there are all forms of transportation, horse & cart, camel, car, motorcycle, buses, just about everything all mixed up on the same streets.
The sight of a 4 and a half thousand year old pyramid at the end of a dirty city street makes for an interesting and thought provoking sight.
It’s almost surreal, no what am I saying? It is surreal!
I feel like I could be in some sort of science fiction movie on an alien planet with these megalithic structures looming in the background as I walk the streets.
It is a completely different perspective, and one you don’t expect, but I still like it. Maybe just because it’s such an unexpected contrast.
