Black&White: Traditional Javanese Blessing

Indonesia has a rice barn or local rice producer which is the foundation of rice production to overcome the food crisis. In the midst of the Corona virus pandemic (COVID-19) the government of Keude Krueng Buloh Blang Ara Village, Kuta Makmur District, North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province reactivated the rice barn for health improvement.

The Pandemic COVID -19 is expected to last for a long period because it is feared that it will succeed in improving food. Village granaries represent locales to ensure food security in order to continue to be guaranteed, asking to meet needs during emergencies amid various expenses in the country.

The amount of support and hope through community prayers in the area began the hard work with the festivity of blang which was carried out in the fields when they were going to plant rice. The festivity that has been implemented is one of the very thick cultures in Aceh.

The implementation is carried out in mutual cooperation starting from cutting chickens, goats, cows and buffaloes, starting to read the Yasin letter and prayers asking Allah SWT so that the rice planted will flourish, avoid pests and obtain abundant harvests.

Even more interesting, before the festivity of Blang was carried out, the community raised funds in a joint venture to buy a variety of needs, from buying chickens, cows, and spices traditionally cooked.

"The advantage of this feast is the community's cohesiveness, from the stages of mutual cooperation to clean channels to flow through the water down, sowing seeds, planting rice, until harvest time, we do it together with deliberation at the time of the conundation of blang, said Hamid village customary elder or known as the name Keujruen blang.

The Aceh government hopes that the culture or conundrum culture of agriculture in Aceh can be excellent in the future, returning to be a capital area and at the same time a model area in preparation for becoming a food granary.

Food security was the main priority after the pandemic, Aceh was one of the national food centers in the past, there were three commodities that became the focus of development, namely rice, corn and soybeans, from government data mentioned.

Rice was the main focus of developing production with 429,000 hectares of planted area, a harvest area of 407,000 hectares, and productivity expected to reach 57.85 quintal / hectare with a production target of 2.3 million tons by 2020.
