My entry to the #monomad challenge
Not long ago I spent a whole day traveling to Trinidad in central Cuba. For those who have never heard of this city, it is a magnet for tourists who come to this small island for the beauty of its historic center that seems stopped in time. Its cobblestone streets and period architecture are part of its charm, but it goes far beyond that. Its people keep their traditions above all, its proximity to the beaches of the south, and all the history it possesses since it was one of the first villages created in Cuba in the time of the Spaniards.
But today I just want to show you its streets so you can get an idea of this city. I only went for one day so the time to walk it was a little tight, but together with my camera, I enjoyed it. We only spent about 4 hours in the city, before going on a canopy tour and then to the beach, a round day with history, adrenaline, and relaxation by the sea. When we arrived, we had breakfast in a restaurant before walking the streets. From there we followed the guide who was telling us everything he knew about the place, many years ago I had been in this city so I disengaged a little from the guide and I concentrated more on photographing the daily life of its streets. So you will see part of their daily life, adding the architecture of some emblematic buildings of this and the interior of some homes where artisans and painters sell their works.
No hace mucho me pase un día entero de viaje a la ciudad de Trinidad en el centro de Cuba. Para quien no ha escuchado nunca de esta ciudad, es todo un imán para el turismo que llega a esta pequeña isla por la belleza de su casco histórico que parece detenido en el tiempo. Sus calles empedradas y su arquitectura de época son parte de su encanto, pero va mucho más allá. Su gente que mantiene las tradiciones por encima de todo, su cercanía a las playas el Sur y toda la historia que posee desde que fue una de las primeras villas creadas en Cuba en la época de los españoles.
Pero hoy solo les quiero mostrar sus calles para que vayan teniendo una idea de esta ciudad. Solo fui por un día por lo que el tiempo para caminarla era algo ajustado, pero junto a mi cámara supe disfrutarlo. Estuvimos unas 4 horas solamente en la ciudad, antes de ir hacia un canopi(tirolesa) y luego la playa. Un día redondo con historia, adrenalina y descanso junto al mar. Cuando llegamos, desayunamos en un restaurante antes de lanzarnos a caminar sus calles. A partir de ahí fuimos detrás del guía que nos iba contando todo lo que conocía del lugar, hace muchos años había estado en esta ciudad por lo que me desentendí un poco del guía y me concentré más en fotografía la cotidianidad de sus calles. Por ello van a ver parte de su día a día, sumándole la arquitectura de algunos edificios emblemáticos de esta y el interior de algunas viviendas donde los artesanos y pintores venden sus obras.
