We're currently staying in an Airbnb condo in the Texas Hill Country. One of the little joys we've been enjoying is feeding the deer that come to our patio. The owner kindly left a bag of deer corn that we've been tossing to our new friends. This doe, however, turned out to be a big bully.
Don't let her cute face fool you. This isn't Bambi.
As gentle as she seems, she kept pushing away a smaller doe that seems lame.
This gal seems to have either an injured foot or one that is deformed, causing her to limp. Every time we would throw some corn to the little doe, the larger one would shove her away.
We finally managed to get the larger one occupied and sneak some corn to the lame doe. At one point, we ended up with five or six deer at the patio, including a tiny buck with little, velvety nubbins for antlers.
