Hola hermosa comunidad de #motherhood, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien hoy y hayan tenido una exitosa semana, hoy por primera vez quiero participar en el challenge de la semana, nunca había participado y pues quería hacer algo nuevo en esta comunidad jeje. El desafío se llama: “¿como hablar sobre la muerte con tus hijos?” o How to Talk About Death To Your Kids [ENG – ESP] || Challenge of the Week by @motherhood. aquí les cuento como fue mi experiencia con mi hija.

The challenge is called: "how to talk about death with your children", here I tell you how was my experience with my daughter.}

Mi hija Luna apenas tiene 5 años, este tema no se lo quería tocar todavía la verdad, pero me toco hacerlo o me vi obligada hacerlo jajaja cuando salió la película SOUL o alma en español de Disney y pues sabia más o menos de que trataba la película, entonces sospeche que Luna haría preguntas.

^{My daughter Luna is only 5 years old, I didn't really want to touch this topic yet, but I had to do it or I was forced to do it hahaha when the movie SOUL or soul in Spanish from Disney came out and I knew more or less what the movie was about, so I suspected that Luna would ask questions.}

Para los que han visto la película se trata de una persona tratando de cumplir el sueño de su vida y cuando ya cree que lo ha logrado, accidentalmente sufre una caída y fallece, su alma va hacia un lugar fuera del cosmos camino hacia una gran luz. No contaré toda la película jaja pero hasta allí fue suficiente para que Luna comenzara a cuestionarse todo lo que estaba pasando en ese momento.

Vimos la película y yo solo esperaba que no preguntara nada la verdad jajaja, pero no tardo mucho hasta que surgieron muchas preguntas: ¿Mamá que es un alma? ¿Hacia dónde va el alma de ellos, esa luz que es? Automáticamente pensé: Vaya Disney nos puso a trabajar con esta película jejeje

^{We watched the movie and I was just hoping he wouldn't ask anything really hahaha but it didn't take long until a lot of questions came up:
mom what is a soul?
Where is their soul going, what is that light?
Automatically I thought: Wow Disney put us to work with this movie hehehehe}

A pesar de que sabía que surgirían preguntas no me prepare mucho para saber cómo responderle, pero algo que si práctico en mi forma de crianza es decir la verdad de acuerdo a su edad y no imponerle ideas o religiones, quiero que ella elija ser quien quiera a medida que se desarrolla, pero le dejo el conocimiento abierto (de acuerdo a su edad claro) para que ella tenga de donde elegir y con que se va identificando más, por lo que no involucre la religión en mi explicación sobre la muerte, fui un poco generalizada y sin tantos detalles. De hecho, algo que me gusto de la película es que tampoco involucra la religión, supongo que porque hay tantas religiones que sería un poco excluyente referirse solo a una y pues también trataron de ser un poco generalizados.

^{Even though I knew that questions would come up I didn't prepare much to know how to answer her, but something I do practice in my parenting is to tell the truth according to her age and not impose ideas or religions, I want her to choose who she wants to be as she develops but I leave the knowledge open (according to her age of course) so she can choose and identify with more, so I didn't involve religion in my explanation about death, I was a little generalized and without so many details. In fact, something I liked about the movie is that it doesn't involve religion either, I guess because there are so many religions that it would be a little exclusive to refer to only one and they also tried to be a little generalized.}

Literalmente detuve un momento la película para explicarle, le dije: Amor las personas cuando pasa el tiempo van creciendo y se van poniendo viejitas y ya no pueden caminar más, están muy muy cansadas y entonces se mueren, pero para eso pasan muuuchos años, su cuerpo cierra los ojitos y ya no se mueven más nunca, su alma sale de su cuerpo, el alma es quien eres tú por dentro, el cuerpo se queda en la tierra y el alma va a otro lugar muy muy arriba en el cielo a descansar y a estar con sus otros familiares que murieron también, nos ven desde allá arriba y nos cuidan mucho. Mi abuelita estaba muy muy viejita y entonces se fue a descansar y está allá arriba en cielo cuidándonos, yo a veces la extraño mucho, pero sé que está bien y feliz viéndonos, a veces puede pasar que las personas tengan accidentes muy fuertes o enfermedades muy difíciles de curar y entonces también se van a descansar y así. ¿Entendiste? ¿Seguimos viendo la película? (pregunte enseguida para que no preguntara más nada jajaja) Ella solo dijo: si entendí mami, me pasas las cotufas, por favor. Jajajaja.

Love, as time goes by, people grow older and get older and can no longer walk, they are very very tired and then they die but for that many years go by, their body closes its eyes and they never move anymore, their soul leaves their body, the soul is who you are inside, the body stays on earth and the soul goes to another place very high up in heaven to rest and to be with their other relatives who also died, they see us from up there and take care of us a lot. My grandmother was very very old and then she went to rest and she is up there in heaven taking care of us, sometimes I miss her very much, but I know she is well and happy watching us, sometimes it can happen that people have very strong accidents or very difficult to cure diseases and then they also go to rest and so. ¿Did you understand? ¿We continue watching the movie? (I asked immediately so she would not ask anything else hahaha).
She just said: yes I understood mommy, pass me the cotufas, please.
Hahahaha.}

Ya después de unos días si comenzó a preguntar más cosas, como por ejemplo que hacen con el cuerpo de la persona, y comenzó a usar la palabra “murió” o “muerto” cosa que nos fue sorprendiendo porque no la habíamos escuchado de ella, pero supongo que como ya tiene un conocimiento, pues la comienza a emplear en su vocabulario. Nosotros desde que Luna nació no hemos tenido pérdidas cercanas (que siga así por favor) por lo que ella tan pequeña aún no profundiza acerca del tema, ni le ha tomado mayor importancia, pero ya sabe lo que es y más o menos lo que sucede cuando llega ese momento.

Since Luna was born we haven't had any close losses (please keep it that way), so she is so little that she still doesn't know much about it, but she already knows what it is and more or less what happens when that moment arrives.}

Creo que debemos dirigirnos a los niños con mucha sinceridad, decirles la verdad siempre y dependiendo de su edad, pues dar la información adecuada. A los niños que han sufrido pérdidas muy cercanas, acompañarlos en su duelo y conversar mucho con ellos, decirles que está bien, si quieren llorar, si están molestos, que todos los sentimientos son válidos tenerlos, es parte del duelo, apoyarse en la religión si la practican, aunque seguramente se cuestionaran porque se ha ido ese ser querido y su religión no los ayudo.

La vida puede ser impredecible, creo que como adultos tampoco comprendemos del todo ese momento tan doloroso, solo la aceptamos como es y ya, pero pienso que todos nos cuestionamos porque se fue una persona que siempre hizo el bien o una persona tan joven con muchos sueños por cumplir, solo nos queda sufrir su perdida y con el tiempo ir aceptando que se ha ido teniendo la esperanza que algún día volveremos a verla, cuando es momento de pasar por una perdida todas las peguntas sin respuestas se nos vienen encima.

Lo único de lo que estamos seguros es de que todos moriremos en algún momento, lo ideal seria que llegara cuando ya estamos bastante mayores y cansados, una partida tranquila rodeada de tus seres amados, pero lamentablemente no siempre sucede así. Por al contrario nuestro camino por esta vida no está definido, lo defines tú mismo, entonces vivamos todo lo que podamos vivir, hagamos todo lo que siempre quisimos hacer (sin lastimar a nadie) disfrutemos cada detalle que nos brinda cada día, arriesguemos así perdamos al final, porque es mejor decir que lo intentamos a preguntarse todo el tiempo ese doloroso: ¿y su hubiera hecho tal cosa?, expresemos amor a nuestros amados todos los días.

No quise hacer este post de manera triste a pesar de que es un tema superdelicado, quería en lugar de eso darle un poco de optimismo, mi experiencia fue así sin tantas complicaciones, pero no sabemos qué pueda pasar más adelante y a que debamos enfrentarnos.
