what is it about love
that demands so much attention
that in my mind
and in this life
requires such specification
identifying parameters
labels
like diagnostic codes
categorized and cold

no more fluffy
no more warm
no more playful
no more carefree love
just doing its thing
No.
these days it feels like
every ounce of value must be
carefully measured
anticipated
these days
my heart lays set in concrete
safe and secure and impenetrable
safe from the treachery
of losing love
because of the science it employs
to keep love
from getting inside
