St. James Court Art Show In B&W

This past weekend I paid a visit to the St. James Court Art Show in the Old Louisville neighborhood of the city. The art show got its start back in the 50s, when Old Louisville was something of a 'bad' neighborhood.

Since then the neighborhood has changed quite a bit but it's still an interesting place, with a weird mix of the well-to-do, the working class, and a healthy dose of college kids. The crowd at the show was an equally interesting mix of folks.

Just as interesting was the assortment of art and wares on display.

Leather, photography, woodworking, paintings, sculptures and more jewelry than you could shake a stick at.

It rained for a good bit of the weekend, we managed to sneak in our visit Sunday during a break in the weather. There were a surprising number of people out considering all the thunderstorms we'd had earlier in the day.

I usually go just to look at the photography on display but somehow I always forget how many of the ones there are card carrying members of the Cult of the Analog.

I'm proud of myself though, I didn't once mutter 'pretentious, elitist bastard' when they recited their 'I only work with film' creed. Well, at least not where they could hear it...

There were a large number of 'No Photos' signs in the booths, which I found a bit rich. Seems some people missed the memo about 'no expectation of privacy in public places'...

The interesting stuff to shoot wasn't in those booths noways...

Once we had peopled and arted ourselves out we parted ways with St. James. It worked out nicely, we had ourselves a time and made it back to the car just as the rain set in again.
