This is my first entry for the #monomad challenge. I hope you like it.

In a small town in northern Spain called Castro Urdiales there is a cemetery called the Whale Cemetery.

The name is not given because they bury there the holders of large amounts of cryptocurrencies, but it is a tribute to the wonderful marine animal that was once one of the great commercial activities of this coastal area.

Like many others, this cemetery has a large number of pantheons and niches of great beauty.

The Sel Family Pantheon

The Sel family pantheon is undoubtedly the greatest artistic attraction of this cemetery.

It was designed by the architect Leonardo Rucabado for his wife's family and he was also buried in this striking family pantheon.

The pantheon features a large sarcophagus and a female angel with Egyptian features.

Egyptian symbolism can be seen in the corner of the sarcophagus with these hooded falcons in the corners.

But above all with the use of scarabs on the sarcophagus, as if it were a brooch that closes the sarcophagus at the top.

On the front of the sarcophagus is an inscription with the letters alpha and omega representing the beginning and end of life.

The angel is undoubtedly the figure that attracts the most attention due to the great beauty of the statue, which is made entirely of marble.

In his hand he holds a crown, while with the other he holds a long trumpet. This made me think of the knights of the apocalypse at first, but after documenting the use of the crown in the other hand it is a symbol of protection for the soul of the deceased.

Undoubtedly a cemetery worthy of being visited as if it were an art gallery, as there are other pantheons, such as the following one, which are of great beauty.
