Monomad: The Carbayón-Oviedo and the surroundings of the Campoamor Theatre

The Carbayón (augmentative of carbayu, which means oak in Asturian) is the name given to a centenary oak tree that was located in the central Uria Street in the city of Oviedo. City where I live.

My entry to #monomad challenge organized by @monochromes and #pobphotocontest orgnized by @friendlymoose

This tree, due to its size and size, was of enormous symbolic importance for the city, and has given rise to the informal name of the people of Oviedo, also called carbayones by this tree.

The current oak tree that is a symbol of the city is located very close to Calle Uria, just behind the Campoamor theater.

This oak tree was planted in 1950 (MCML) and it is protected by a sign indicating the importance and date of planting of this monumental oak.

With the arrival of winter its leaves are not green, but due to the hardness of the oak it resists to lose all its leaves.

Together with the monument to the ass, which is in the main facade are two characteristic symbols of the environment of the Campoamor Theater.

Together with this statue representing a dancer.

A greeting from the beautiful city of Oviedo.
