#monomad : The Hausa maiden

#monomad today is about a maiden and her cultural dress code. This is one of the most persistent cultures in northern Nigeria.

Their dresses are mostly hand woven, the one we used was rented. It is called the Mudukare dress, hand woven with embroideries all over the dress.
Her hands were also painted with "laali", you could call it tattoo if you want. It can be cleaned off though but it would take a while.

This outfit looked pretty flat until we handed her some beeds and bracelets with some young girls like as if she was been presented for marriage.
So we three young girls (Edidiong,Martha,Tonia) to help us make it look realistic.

In some frames, the girls are seen with woven baskets which is very common amongst fulani(hausa) young girls.

From what I heard, the outfits might vary slightly depending on the tribes.

It was a wonderful experience, my canon eos 5D came through again.
I used a softbox and 50mm prime lens for the shoot.

Thanks for stopping by and also feel free to join the contest
