Traditional Horse Racing From the Gayo Highlands

Hi Hiver's
Creative greetings to all of you.
On this occasion I want to share a photo about a tradition of the gayo land community at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level.
Gayo coffee is one of the leading commodities from the Gayo Highlands, Central Aceh.
But right now I'm not talking about coffee, but rather a very unique tradition that has become an annual agenda for people in the Gayo Highlands, namely the Traditional Horse Racing.

This traditional horse racing has been around for decades.
This horse race is held every commemoration of the independence day of the Republic of Indonesia and the day of the founding of the city of Takengon.

Uniquely, every horse racing event is held followed by little jockeys.
Using minimal safety equipment.

When the star starts, thousands of spectators cheer for their champion jockey.

The horse also ran at high speed like a racer on the GP motorcycle circuit. Here's a photo I took while in the Takengon mountains.
