Hello everyone 👧.
Even though my family and I were tired from visiting Dataran Lang and SkyCab Langkawi since morning, we continued our tour to next tourist attraction at Pantai Cenang, Langkawi Kedah.
Pantai Cenang is one of the famous beaches in Langkawi Island that is full of tourists from all over the world who mostly come there to play water sports. As for us, we did not play water sports. At Pantai Cenang, we only wanted to eat and sight seeing.
We had to park our rented car far from the main streets when we reached Pantai Cenang due to a lack of parking spaces in that area. However, it's free of charge to park there. Just before we reached the main street, we entered a building with a Bazar Chenang sign on its wall.
Inside the building we entered, there were many shops on both sides. These shops provide water sports accessories, water sports tour packages, laundry services, reflexology services, vaporizers, and local souvenirs. We just looked at it and didn't buy anything from these shops.
The first shop on the main street we saw once we exited the building was a restaurant. Despite our hunger, we headed to the beach area first to watch the sunset before having dinner. At 7.00pm, the sky was not yet dark.
There are night markets at Dataran Cenang, which is just beside the beach. Most of the stalls sell souvenirs, clothing, hats and shoes.
On the beach, we saw lots of tables and chairs including bean bag chairs. These are prepared by outdoor restaurants or stalls so that customers can enjoy sunsets and nightlife by eating and drinking. The restaurant's staff is making a stage-like platform on the beach sand. Maybe there will be a performance at night.
Our hometown is in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. I just wonder why the Sabah flag is hanging there. I'm too shy to ask the locals for the reason.
Next, we search for fooooooooood. Western Cuisine, Japanese Cuisine, Chinese Cuisine, Thai Cuisine and many mores. We had too many choices of restaurants to decide where to go for dinner while walking along the main streets. At the end, we did not enter a restaurant first, but rather a duty-free perfume shop.
The price for 2 imported perfume bottles is only RM50.00 (USD11.5). My Mom and Sister do not want to miss this offer and have decided to buy these perfumes.
It looks like the food prices for most of the restaurants at Pantai Cenang's main street are expensive. We found and entered a Chinese restaurant that had reasonable prices for food. Just the portions of each dish are smaller than we expected. Because Langkawi Island is a duty free area with cheap alcohol prices, I just ordered a jug of beer to share with my Brother for only RM24.00 (USD 5.5).
Tomorrow we will visit one more tourist attraction before departing back to Penang via ferry at 3.00 pm. We were concerned that we wouldn't have time to buy souvenirs the next day. Thus, we bought chocolates and alcohol earlier at the duty free shop. If we are going out from Langkawi Island, each of us can only bring one bottle of alcohol with us.
As we finished our shopping at the duty free shop, it was already 9.00am. In my hometown, the shops in the malls usually close at 9.00am. We just tried our luck at Cenang Mall in Pantai Cenang to see if it was still open. Luckily, all of the shops inside the mall are still open for business.
This mall was not big. We finished our stroll inside very quickly. Since we still have alcohol quota, my Mum and siblings entered the duty-free shop inside the mall again. Furthermore, my Brother was unable to find the alcohol brand he sought at the duty free shop before entering Cenang Mall. I'm not interested in joining them, so I just wait outside the duty free shop and enjoy sitting on a massage chair.
Our dinner meal was not enough for us. We just bought some street food for takeaway to eat when we got back to our homestay. The street food stalls are just outside Cenang Mall.
We spent more than 2 hours watching the sunset, shopping (including window shopping) and dinner at Pantai Cenang. If you are not into water sports, I think visiting Pantai Cenang during the sunset hour or at night is most suitable. This is due to the night market and street food stalls are mostly open at night.
That's all. Thanks for reading my post 🤗.
