Hello everyone! When I am asked what my hobbies are, I have a very long answer to tell you.lol!My answer would be: My hobbies are, gardening, sewing,DIY's, crafting, drawing, painting and cooking something nice and delicious! My dear friends, I am a person who doesn't like to waste time on nonsense talking. I want to keep myself busy like a bee! I am a busybody guys and that keeps me moving all day long plus my online job whenever time permits.
First and foremost, I love gardening.
Welcome to my Jungle!
Well, these beautiful flowers are only half of it but I don't want to look boring already! Lol!
I segregated my plants in two, the ornamental plants are displayed in front and the edible plants are placed at the back.
My Backyard
I have a wide backyard and that kept me pretty occupied when I wanted to do backyard gardening with some assistance from my buddies.
It had helped me a lot especially during the lockdown because we were not allowed to go out that easy and food commodities had trifled!
Fruit Preserves
I love making sweetened fruits from my own garden too. It's been my hobby when I was still single. When I had 5 kids, the more I wanted to make homemade sweets.
Being locked down wasn't boring at all because I usually stay at home even before then since I am the homebody type. I've worked in the office before so I go out because the job calls for it but after office hours, I prefer to pick my needles and do some embroidery or cross-stitching or make some DIY's and anything that comes to my fancy.
My kids are keen observers that's why they follow what I do too especially in arts and cooking. It's our way of bonding while learning how to do it.
Nowadays, Antonia, my dear granddaughter is my constant companion at home and she likes to observe what I've been doing such as sewing and cooking. We're a tandem:)
Cooking and Baking etc
We like to make gelatin for our fruit salad which she totally enjoyed!
I love to make mixed veggies Spring roll with ground meat where I could easily prepare during breakfast or snacks or whenever we're in a hurry due to lack of time.
We love to bake cakes, pancakes, cupcakes and cookies while the curious Antonia is looking how it's done. She already knows how to bake a chocolate cake and follow the recipe by the book. Am so proud of what she's become!
Needleworks
I love to create my own pouches, be it from my scrap materials or crocheted. I told her that it's so easy to do it. You only need three sides to see and presto! You already have your own pouch. Her aunt bought her a small electric sewing machine because I told her it's not the time yet since she's still too young and couldn't reach the pedals. When the box was delivered, she was very happy. She learned fast and as you can see, she has created her own pouch and proudly showed me her finished product at early age!
I love to make dresses for my dolls when I was young. Now, it's their time. I used to bribe her that I will be making her doll's dress while she does her daily diary and it worked!
I love to draw and paint and make DIY's from scrap materials. My kids would tell me throw away those garbage or give away to less fortunate friends. I am generous and give the old stuffs which is still useful but kept on piling up whenever I buy new things especially old clothes but still wearable. I don't give worn out clothes though. I make use of them as rugs or the thick ones goes for my quilting.:)
Arts & Crafts
We've ventured on Digital Drawing too. When you're an artist, you learn easily. It has become a very enjoyable hobby. Of course you need to learn the art and how it's being done. It took away our boredom during the lockdown. Digital drawing has kept us pretty occupied.:)
DIY's
As you can see on the above photo,I made a beautiful organizer from a used mask box and wallpaper lining for mat weaving. Did you like it?
This sewing machine was bought by my hubby when he was still active. I guess it's already 3 decades old! Lol! I love to dress my kids with my own artistry especially when there are programs in their school when they're required to wear costumes:)
That was during the "Linggo NG Wika" (Language Week) in their school wherein each level were required to wear the tribal costumes assigned in each class.
My friends, I know that what I've shared to you is already long... My apologies! But, my story about my hobbies wouldn't be complete without sharing them to you which is the main purpose of this challenge. I have more to show you but this is all for now. I looks like a mini book already.lol! All these can be in less than an hour but the hobbies I've mentioned here took years before they were painstaking achieved but it's all worth it.
