Menara Taming Sari @ Melaka

This tower is one of my stop during my solo ride to Melaka. The tower is called Menara Taming Sari. The name Taming Sari is originated from a famous kris in Malay traditional story. The Taming Sari kris was wielded by Melaka's warrior; Hang Tuah.

Taming Sari (which means "flower shield", "beautiful shield" or "the main shield" in Malay is a famous kris in Malay folklore. It is believed to have been wielded by the legendary Malaccan warrior Hang Tuah, and is fabled to grant physical invulnerability to its wielder: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taming_Sari

Menara = Tower

The objective of Menara Taming Sari is to provide the visitors with a bird eye view of Melaka city. From Menara Taming Sari, you can see interesting places such as Samudera Museum (Flor De La Mar), Dataran Pahlawan, Straits of Melaka, and many more.

The car park at Menara Taming Sari is limited. Visitor has the options to park at Dataran Pahlawan which is a 10 minutes walk to Menara Taming Sari. Since I'm riding my motorbike, I park just in front of the entrance 😁 That is the perk of riding a motorbike in a busy city 🏍️

For the sake of sharing, I provided the coordinate of Menara Taming Sari from Google Maps. The coordinate are as follow: 2.1910366883214114, 102.24728418747695

Ticket price for Malaysian are USD4 for adult, and USD3 for children. For Non-Malaysian, the ticket are USD6 for adult, and USD4 for children. It was a 7 minutes ride inside the tower platform.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the tower rotates as it rises from lower ground to the top of the tower. Thus giving the passengers 360 degrees of panoramic view of Melaka's city. 🏙️

Passenger embark inside the platform. The platform then rotates as is rises toward the top of the tower. When I was there, the queue is quite long. But since the ride only last for 7 minutes, the waiting time was not that long.

I took this picture from the spot where I park my motobike. When the platform are at the ground, the tower look just like an ordinary tall and thin tower.

I took this picture because I found the name funny. If directly translated, it will bring the meaning of: Standing Goat Curry puff 🤣🤣. This stall located at the exit of Menara Taming Sari.

I just had my lunch during that time. If not, I will for sure try one of the curry puff. I bet the curry puff must be delicious since there is also a lot of customers at the stall.

Once you has paid for the ticket, you are required to walk towards the queue for embarking the rotating platform. I need to wait for 2 turns before I was allowed to go in.

However, the waiting time are not that long. Since the platform can accommodate 80 person at one time. This somewhat hasten the waiting time.

In front of the line, there are two staff that is tasked to helps the customers. They were friendly too 😍.

When it was my time to embark the platform, I was told to turn left after entering and walk until the end and then sat at any available seating. The path inside is a bit narrow. You also need to wait until the person in front of you reach their sitting area.

After the platform has reach the middle of the tower, you can see most of Melaka. As it reach higher, you can see far away until the straits of Melaka. The first thing that I saw was the Samudera Museum (Flor De La Mar).

The view during the day was so-so. I was told that the view during the night will be much more colorful and livelier. Because the busiest time in Melaka would be during the nighttime.

For me, the ride inside Menara Taming Sari is a must for those who haven't come here. But to repeat the ride is not worth it. I would recommend to go to the river cruise instead 🚤
