When I visited Medan City of North Sumatra Province, I almost always visit Nelayan Restaurant to having lunch or dinner. As my family and I place the restaurant as our most favorite one. They serves vast variety of dishes, mostly Asian Oriental dishes. Among them, we love to have dimsum, pancake durian, pancake avocados and lumpia. There are many branches of Nelayan Restaurant in Medan, but yesterday we visited the branch at Medan Fair Mall.
We went there for lunch. As we are used to eat dim sum, so we firstly ordered the dish. We know that dimsum is a Cantonese-style meal traditionally eaten in the morning or early afternoon, comprising tea and food typically placed in small steamer baskets or on small plates and often served from carts that move around from table to table in a restaurant.Source. That’s exactly the service of restaurant. It’s really please to see waiters and waitresses just serve the dim sum and other dishes in push carts or trolley.
As we almost can’t hardly wait to eat all dim sum when they was just served, it’s already finished one basket before I took the picture!
Sure, only dim sum is not enough for us. We also order lumpia, pancakes, fried squid, chicken katsu and drinks. We ordered shrimp lumpia with mayonnaise topping. It’s so delicious, savory and tasty. This is my daughter favorite dish!
My son ordered a portion of fried squid. Had it without rice. My son like eating seafood including squid. I remember when I went to fish market, he always ask me to buy fishes from the sea.
Durian and avocado pancakes are two desserts that I like most in Nalayan Restaurant. The layer of pancake is so thin, and overall is so delicious.
How to differentiate durian pancake and avocado one? It’s very easy. The yellow pancake is avocado-based and the green color is durian pancake.
For the drink, I ordered iced lemon tea. Actually I want to order juice. But, it wasn’t available.
It’s so crowded at lunch time as we may see how busy the chef, waiters and waitresses. They are milling around the restaurant space pushing their carts offering the dim sum for the coatumers.
As a well-known and most visited restaurant in Medan City, the prices of menus at the restaurant is quite expensive for the menus offered.
