A sari-sari store is a one-stop shop in the neighborhood. You can buy anything you want in terms of cooking, and detergents, and there are a lot. If you want to buy something like drinks, food, coffee, milk, bread, biscuits, canned goods and many more. You know where to go because all of them can be found in the sari-sari stores.
Sari-sari stores have become popular with people who stopped working. I myself thought of it as a source of income as long as you will keep the sales rolling. You should not use the sales money from the store so it can grow bigger in time. Focus on growing first before relying on everything from the store or else it will be bankrupt.
Some sari-sari store owners think of having a store just to help them not be hungry when days of hardship come. They don't care about consuming the goods or products they're selling as long as they will not be hungry and they will have something to use for future needs.

It will be emptied and then right on filling up again. That's a cycle for some store owners because they're not hoping to be rich but only to save them during hungry days.
A sari-sari store is effective, especially in the province where bigger stores like supermarkets can not be found. The locals or the neighborhood will have no choice but to buy there instead of going too far away just to buy the things that they might need.
I often heard these words from the store owners and also from my mother. "Why go to a distant place to buy that product? Yeah, it's cheaper but considering the fare to use and the time you spend. Just buy it at the sari-sari store where it can be found nearby." That's one of the reasons why a single small village with a population of 100 households has 10 sari-sari stores. I'm referring to where I am currently.
Sari-sari stores are not a bad business because the essential needs of the people are here. Even a seasoning with a cost of a dollar cents can be bought here. Just imagine how a sari-sari store is helpful to the people in the village.
