Hello everyone!
The time moves fast and it´s Wednesday again! Today, I am bringing you to Floridsdorf, the 21st Viennese District. This had been our home District called Floridsdorf where I spent my life for so many decades . It is one of the two Viennese districts called Transdanubia as both are reached crossing the many bridges that connect them to the rest of the city. I love it here since the area is surrounded by farmland to the border of Lower Austria and the Old Danube to the South. Unfortunately, we have to give up the row house and garden now that we are in our "advanced age". The house and garden had been too much of a work after living there for almost 30 years.
We moved out to a newly built flat that is about a kilometer away from the Donau-Auen National Park. The flat is a low maintenance apartment and I´m glad we did, there is less work to do and we can walk anytime to the Lobau and enjoy nature.
The Railway Station is the center of the district, a lot of people come from other towns of Lower Austria to work in the city and so this is one of the busiest stations that include underground Metro where thousands of commuters come and go. There are shops that cater to the needs of the locals and commuters.
The city admins keep the district clean and green. And whenever there are empty spaces, they are being planted with flowering plants. It is beautiful when the flowers are in full bloom particularly in Summer.
This Path is located at the back of the Rail Station, they have completely renovated the whole area and is car-free zone. We didn´t change our doctors and we still come here to have appointment with our doctors and dentist. The Wasserpark I posted last week is not so far away from this Rail Station.
I can´t wait to be here again in Summer to see the flowers blooming. Just now, it has begun to rain, we´ve had three beautiful sunny days before and now the rain came that lowered the temperatures... we only hope for a better weather, we really do!
