TUA PEH KONG TEMPLE - Upgrading

How are you, my friend? I hope that your doing well. It is a Thursday again. Time flies. It feels like last Thursday was just a couple of days ago. Whenever, I am free, I would explore the city and capture moment. Some places in the city are worth mentioning, if in case it disappears one day. At least a digital copy of it exist for the future generation to view like a digital museum. Miri lies on the island of Borneo and is a district of Sarawak, part of Malaysia.

TUA PEH KONG Temple - The oldest temple in the city and it is being upgraded and expanding. It was built around the 1900s, survived the Japanese occupation of Malaya. It has been under renovation for a while.

All temples in the city have dragon statues. These statues are believed to protect the temple. There are many temples in Miri. This is the oldest one. It is currently being upgraded and maintained to make sure that it still looks as good as it was.

There used to be a fish market here. It has been moved and demolished. New roads are paved instead. I've a digital copy of it here in my earlier post when it was about to be demolished. History preserved.

I was English educated so I am not sure what is written with the pictures. All of them are lessons in life if I am not mistaken from what I can see from the way the pictures are depicted.

These dragons have been repainted to better enhance its colours. Hanging from the ceiling are lanterns that are lit up at night giving it a crimson glow. If I do come here at night, the next time, I'll shoot a picture of what it looks like at night.

The altar that faces heaven

This is the first altar faces the skies. Anyone can pray no matter what religion. You can make your wishes. I usually wish for good health and happiness.

I wonder how they connected the wires.

The new section of the temple

The roof of the second floor is being constructed. I wonder what it looks like when it is completed some time later in the future. In the future, this would be one of the must visits if you ever visit Miri. Anyone can come. No matter what religion. I've seen tourist here taking pictures.
