It is a Sunday. Tomorrow is going to be a Monday again. Finally, temples are open to the public again. I went to the temple a couple of days ago. This temple is called the
TUA PEK KONG temple
and it dates back to more than a century of existence. Currently, the temple is under renovation. Lots of electric lanterns hang from the ceiling. This temple has been here for at least a century.
Extended part of the temple.
This part used to part of the sea but have been reclaimed. The roof of the temple is the hardest to construct and it takes a lot of time to fully built it.
The temple that stood time
Even during World War 2 when the Japanese came to Sarawak. Lots of work being done to maintain the temple such a repainting.
Offerings
In buddhist beliefs, when we burn paper money, the spirits would receive these and have a better life.
Dragon sculptures all around the temple
This dragon has been repainted and repaired.
One of the incense holder
The Qilin or the traditional Chinese cat guards the temple. There is one of the right side and one on the left.
Big incense being burnt
The land where the buildings currently stand used to be all water. Reclaimed from the sea to build Miri's financial district. Lots of banks, businesses have set up business there. Shell's operational headquarter in Miri is currently relocating here.
The floors are all marble
Lots of marble tiles used as the floors of the temple. Marble floors are clean and require less maintenance.
The pagoda
The view of the temple and the new section
Once it is completed in a couple of months time, I will be doing an update and linking back to this post to let you see what it looks like.
My mom burning some paper money
Well. I don't think you'll read something like this most of the time.
Every temple that you visit will have an incense holder that faces the sky.
The first place to knee down with incense sticks and pray to the heavens.
The huge building in the background
that is still under construction is going to be Shell's new operational office. I am not sure if it's the whole Malaysia or only Sarawak.
Still under construction
There are equal number of churches , mosques and temples here in the city.
Huge incense
These huge incense are usually bought by those who want their businesses to do well. I hope that you enjoyed reading this post.
