Driving on the longest bridge in South East Asia

Good Morning.. It's a brand new week. Brunei Darussalam opened its borders a couple of months ago. Have you ever been to Brunei? A country sandwiched between Sarawak and Sabah. Today, I am bringing you on a full driving tour of the longest bridge in Southeast Asia. It took around 6 years to complete and more than 1.11 billion USD. This bridge is now open to foreign cars that are not above 3500 kgs. This bridge links Temburong of Brunei to the main city of Brunei. Before this, to get from the main city of Brunei to Temburong was through Limbang, Malaysia.

TEMBURONG BRIDGE or the Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien bridge

Do check out the video below for the full length video of the whole drive.

Watch in full. I drove from Temburong side of Brunei to the main city and it took 20 minutes to drive on this bridge. This bridge is 30 Kilometres long.

Three huge bridge towers can be seen as you drive along this bridge.

It's a modern marvel. Out along the drive, I could see lots of islands and the South China Sea.

The first section of the bridge from Temburong region of Brunei.

Brunei is divided into two parts.

As you drive along the road, you can see lots of trees. Mangrove forest. The wetlands beneath.

After around five minutes, you'll see this section which is the beginning of the bridge section that is above the sea. Then it's a smooth drive all the way . The speed limit here is 100km/h and there are lots of CCTVs around. No stopping along these roads for any picture taking. Too dangerous. There had been some reported deaths. A technician was inspecting a section of the bridge and one car just hit her.

Super duper smooth drive

I had my GoPro mounted on my windscreen to have the best stability. Tried to capture the best view. I also wanted to record everything uncut to show everyone what it looks like to drive on this bridge.

Two beautiful towers ahead

Once you see these two towers, your near the other end of the bridge. If you ever drive here, do drive slowly to admire the beautiful scenery.

Lots of beautiful clouds on this day.

I can't believe that this whole bridge is above the sea. How much engineering knowhow to built this amazing structure.

Kota Batu

Once you see this sign, your near Bandar Seri Begawan. I travel to and fro Brunei - Miri, Sarawak most of the time. So if you want to see what Brunei looks like, do check out my future post. More will be posted from time to time. Hope that you had a great time watching the video.

Have a great day. If you have anything to ask me about Brunei, do feel free to ask. I will always try to answer any questions with regards to that.
