Blog #201: More Than Century Old Religious Artefacts and Historical Items Inside the Lazi Convent

Happy Sunday Hivers!

When we talk about ancient household goods we can rarely find it in our era because the generation before us abandoned it already. After they have found it unuseful because of the technological revolution that stuffs were already abandoned and most people purchased the stuffs that made our lives more easier because in our generation we constantly seek instant gratification.

But what made me astonish as I visit the Lazi Convent in Siquijor was there are still lots of household goods; religious artefacts; and historical items were being kept. Actually the Lazi Convent is also home of Siquijor Heritage Museum. Let me show you around.

The Lazi Convent ground floor is made of coral stones and the 2nd floor is made of hardwood. That would be the sight immediately caught your attention as you get inside the Convent. The ancient chandellier hanged in the entrance area of the convent seems you're in the 19th century.

We went to the the second floor to see the stuffs they kept. As we entered to the left door, a spacious room greeted us with many ancient household goods; religious artefacts; and historical items. The holy bibles used in 19th century were placed inside this cabinet glass.

The black and white photographs of San Isidro Church and San Isidro Convent or Lazi Convent was framed and hanged on the wall.

I don't know if this is the first piano the chuch had used during that time. But since they displayed it so I assumed that maybe this was the piano they had used before.

Here are some religious artefacts that the church had used before. They didn't throw it away instead they kept it maybe to show us the artefacts they had used before.

Old chairs were also kept. I can still remember this kind of chair. When I was just a kid, I was able to see my mother's grandmother. I have seen this kind of chairs at her living room, our favorite hangout place inside her house.

In this cabinet glass you can't see religious artecrafts but different stuffs like old clothes iron; typewriter; mortar and pestle; and other different stuffs.

I went to the other side and I have seen black and white photographs during the inauguration of Siquijor Heritage Museum.

There were also priest's robes hanged that would truly caught your attention once you get inside the spacious room. Maybe it scares us when the room is dark because the figure of the robes are like beheaded human.

There were also lots of historical items in this side.

Because the place is ancient we can't really avoid that we can feel something different in the place. It is a little bit creepy especially the building and the stuffs were already existing more than century old.
