Humanitarian Acts After The Typhoon (Giving Of Relief Goods To The Families Who Are Severely Damaged By The Typhoon)

Last January 9 exactly 3 weeks after the typhoon, the local youth council of our Municipality and with the help of Police Officers organized a relief operation. They prepared packs of basic commodities like bags of rice, canned goods, as well as toys, school supplies and packs of snack for the children. Giving of food packs to families who are severely affected by the typhoon and at the same time doing a feeding program to the kids of the same village. They have chosen the particular community of Sitio Walog
wherein the only village of Alcoy that was severely damaged by the typhoon. There are many casualties of the said village, homes were completely washed out from flash floods. In fact, there’s a whole family died because of that typhoon.

As the youth and police officers prepared the relief goods, the individuals of the village were patiently waiting for their turn to hand them over the basic commodities. More or less 50 families benefited the relief operation. As you notice the place that there are still remains of the flash floods, debris were scattered everywhere, anyone can really tell that the place went through a strong current of flood, houses were not in good shape some houses were even brought down.

Right after village people received the commodities, children were told to fall in line as well for they will be given toys and basic school supplies and food they prepared for the feeding program. The youth even did a parlor game for children just to aid the trauma they experienced during the typhoon. It might be simple for us adults but for these children it really had an impact for them to let them feel that there is someone who truly cares for them beside from their own family.

Despite of what happened to their houses to their properties and to their source of living still the people of the village managed to smile with these simple acts of kindness that was given to them, showing how resilient Filipinos are. They were very grateful as well that there are still individuals who will spend time during their trying times. Indeed a
humanitarian act.
