When I was little my Father used to tell me to read through my eyes and not through my mouth. It was a harsh word for a child to hear but he was right, I learned to read by my mind.
I don't own a lot of books though but we had books at home which my Father used to read. I always saw him reading and since then we followed his footsteps but I have no favorite books as a child nor as a teenager. It was only now that I found some books to enjoy reading, and I am glad to share them with you.
The first book is,
The Four Loves by C.S. Lewis.
I am not familiar with the word love nor was it a comprehensible word for me. As an intellect I struggled to understand human emotions or sad to say I evade all emotions out of fear--perhaps? This books details on what we miss in details of love, its source and its expressions. Contrary to the books C.S. Lewis had authored this one is his famous non-fiction book.
This book describes love in its Greek form, the four loves or affection, friendship, eros, and charity. Although the Greeks had a lot more, Lewis focused on explaining these four.
This book is too much to comprehend and a delight to those who seek it. It also states that the love we know in the New Testament to the surprise of many was not the same love that we all know.
The second book that I learned to love is,
THE ART OF WAR by Sun Tzu.
In peace prepare for war, in war prepare for peace. The art of war is vital importance to the state. It is a matter of life and death, a road either to safety or to ruin. Hence under in no circumstances can it be neglected.
This book could serve as a military or a professional gain. Not only as a precautionary measure but also what to expect in a war.
I am glad that the book we owned was one of its original version and translation for a lot of books now has been expanded from its original form. This book is indeed an art in its fullness even if war is about bloodshed, this is The Art of War, and it could prepare us ahead of any battles.
These are the must have books that I wanted to recommend, this is my first try and my entry to ASEAN Hive Challenge "My Favorite Book(s)."
