OTOP products is the short form for One Tambon One product project
where One Tambon means sub-district (there are 7,255 in Thailand). It's a program to boost local products created during the government of Thai Rak Thai party (2001-2006) by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. OTOP is modeled as the successful program One Village One Product (OVOP) of Oita Prefecture, Japan.

For each Tambon, a superior local product is selected and awarded with the starred OTOP product label, its role is then to represent the Tambon and to promote it at the national and international level. It's a way to create prosperity for the Tambon to improve the standard of living of the people living there by bringing the unique wisdom of the villagers of each province to transform them into a variety of products such as food, handicrafts, basketry, including weaving, into products that can generate income for the community. It also helps to spread the Thai culture through its products to the world.

This initiative is seen as an extension of the villagers' desire to highlight the strengths of their local products to create quality products.

As usual the entrance is done once you have checked your temperature and washed your hands with hydroalcoholic gel.

The OTOP sales yard is built like a dome. It is not hot and has a fan blowing to keep it cool all the time. Inside there are many products from many provinces, including food, drink, local products, weaving machines, clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry, etc.

There are 6 categories of OTOP products: food, beverages, apparel decoration souvenirs, and herbs.

Let's start shopping at the jewelry store first, this shop is a pearl shop where you can find necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, or hair clips. The pearl can be used to make a variety of jewelry, in addition to being used for basketry and various utensils, it is also woven into vases to place beautiful flowers to embellish your home.

This is a Thai dessert called Kalamay made from flour, sugar, and coconut milk. Most of the time, the Kalamay is brown but now there is a green color from pandan leaves. When chewed, it is sticky like jelly.

It is a type of Chinese food consisting of flour, eggs, shellfish, and seasonings. The starch used is clear and sticky. Served in a hot pan with bean sprouts and chili sauce.
