Greetings Hivers, @justinparke here with a brand new ASEAN Hive Community Challenge for you all, "🤳 Childhood Photos 📸", and embarrassing hairstyles are very welcome.
I think it's safe to say the majority of ASEAN Hivers were born in the 1980s, an era when hairspray became cheap and globally available, allowing for gravity-defying hairstyles. Almost everyone in the background of my childhood photos has an extreme hairstyle, and there are so many other things that make me laugh as well. I can remember my first cassette tape player and the joy it brought, a world away from the smartphones kids of today have access to, with the world's bank of information a few clicks away.
I want to see some of your favorite childhood photos for this challenge, and perhaps you can tell me a bit about the images like where you were, what you were doing, who you were with, etc. I live in Cambodia now, and all of my childhood photos are still in the USA, but I'm sure I can convince my mom to scan a few images and send them to me, but finding time to make a post is a challenge in itself because life has been very hectic lately.
My wife grew up in a refugee camp in Thailand, and because of this she has no images of herself until she was about 12 years old. Cameras and film were quite expensive in the early 1980s, and my working class family have very few photos of me until I was about 6 years old. I am sure us ASEAN Hivers were all cute kids at some point in history, so let's see share some vintage images of ourselves and likely have some laughs in the process.
Before you start digging for old photos, let's first look at the winners of last week's challenge. The three winners all had outstanding posts, and all told very good stories about the stories they have in book form. I particularly liked seeing the wear and tear of older books, annotations, notes, and highlights left by their owners, and also I enjoyed the wide variety of topics you ASEAN Hivers are interested in. Thanks to everyone for taking part in this challenge 🙏🙏🙏.
@Ecency is as a sponsor of our weekly challenges thanks to the lovely @melinda010100, who reached out to me with an offer of`1,000 Ecency points per month. With roughly 4 challenges a month, I've set aside 250 points for each challenge in addition to the usual post beneficiary rewards.
Delegators are valued members of our community, so each @asean.hive curation post (other than the main weekly delegator raffle post) features a mini delegator raffle in the footer, with the winner receiving 15% post beneficiary.
