¡Lo prometido es deuda! Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi emocionante experiencia de emprendimiento en el campo, un lugar especial para mí ya que ahí es donde crecieron mis abuelos. Fue una oportunidad única de aprender sobre la agricultura.En este post, quiero compartir contigo mi experiencia y lo que he aprendido sobre cómo sembrar en una zona rural, cómo enfrentar los desafíos de emprender en la agricultura y cómo convertir una situación difícil en una oportunidad para crecer. No solo para crecer en el negocio de la agricultura sino también con cada aprendizaje que me ayudó a mejorar como persona.

Llegué al campo sin saber absolutamente nada sobre siembras. Como alguien que creció en la ciudad, pensé que sembrar una semilla era tan simple como enterrarla en el suelo o en una maceta y regarla. Pero me di cuenta rápidamente de que no era así. A medida que pasaban los días, empecé a comprender la complejidad de la siembra y de cómo cada semilla requería su propio cuidado especial.

Cada cultivo requiere de una planificación cuidadosa y de ciertas tareas específicas, antes, durante y después de la siembra. Desde preparar el terreno, seleccionar las semillas y los fertilizantes adecuados, hasta monitorear el crecimiento de las plantas y cosechar los frutos a tiempo, todo debe ser cuidadosamente planeado y ejecutado para asegurar una cosecha exitosa. (Aprendí esto de primera mano)

Antes de comenzar cualquier siembra, es esencial evaluar cuidadosamente el terreno para asegurarnos de que sea adecuado para el cultivo que deseamos plantar. Debemos estar atentos a posibles plagas que puedan interferir con nuestro sembradío, como el bachaco, la hormiga, salta montes, entre otras. Debemos buscar formas efectivas de controlar y prevenir la aparición de estas plagas. Una vez que hemos evaluado el terreno y prevenido y controlado las plagas, podemos comenzar con la tranquilidad de saber que hemos tomado medidas necesarias para asegurar una buena cosecha.

¡Ojo con esto! las plagas de insectos como la hormiga, el bachaco y el salta montes son vistos como un problema menor en la ciudad, pero en el campo, pueden convertirse en un gran dolor de cabeza si no se detectan y tratan a tiempo, pueden dañar seriamente nuestras cosechas y hacernos perder una gran cantidad de capital. Por esta razón, estén atentos a las señales de la presencia de plagas y tomen medidas inmediatas para controlarlas. En la agricultura, cada pequeña acción puede marcar la diferencia entre una cosecha exitosa y un fracaso, por lo que hay que estar siempre pendiente y preparados para actuar en cualquier momento.

Quiero acotar que aprendí que las plantas son seres vivos. Ellas comen, les da sed, y también se enferman. Suelen enfermarse por algún cambio de clima muy brusco.

La siembra depende de un 100% de cuidados divididos de la siguiente manera: 25% agua (indispensable) 25% alimento (no puede faltar para su mejor desarrollo) 25% medicina (pesticidas, vitaminas) 25% tu conocimiento de como cuidarlas, prepararlas y en que tiempo debes hacer todo el proceso.

Desafios encontrados

Emprender en la ciudad presenta sus desafíos únicos, pero ¿qué hay de los emprendedores rurales? En el campo, conseguir la materia prima puede ser un reto en sí mismo.

¿Te imaginas tener una gran idea para un huerto en tu zona rural, pero enfrentarte a un obstáculo aparentemente insuperable? En mi caso, ese obstáculo fue la adquisición de abono completo para mis plantas. En el año 2017, el país estaba en una situación de crisis aún más grave que la actual, lo que hacía que el abono fuera difícil de conseguir. Además, la escasez de efectivo y la devaluación del bolivar hicieron que fuera casi imposible conseguir el dinero para comprarlo.

Afortunadamente, en momentos difíciles siempre existe la posibilidad de encontrar aliados inesperados. En mi caso, mi primo tenía años trabajando en la agricultura y tenía contactos de proveedores confiables que seguían abasteciéndolo a pesar de la situación. Fue gracias a esta alianza que pude conseguir el abono completo que tanto necesitaba para mi huerto. Aproveché la oportunidad y trabajé en conjunto con mis primos, quienes me proveyeron de lo que necesitaba para lograr mi objetivo.

Finalmente

Emprender en el campo no se ubiera logrado sin el apoyo de mis abuelos, los cuales colocaron a disposición sus 120 ectarias de tierras y su pequeño lago del mismo. Me orientaron y enseñaron sus métodos, me enseñaron acorde a su experiencia aprendida durante toda su vida. Recibí colaboraciones en base a experiencias de muchos de mis primos que hasta el día de hoy siguen laborando en el sector.

I came to the field knowing absolutely nothing about planting. As someone who grew up in the city, I thought planting a seed was as simple as burying it in the ground or in a pot and watering it. But I quickly realized that wasn't the case. As the days passed, I began to understand the complexity of planting and how each seed required its own special care.

Every crop requires careful planning and specific tasks before, during and after planting. From preparing the soil, selecting the right seeds and fertilizers, to monitoring the growth of the plants and harvesting the fruits on time, everything must be carefully planned and executed to ensure a successful harvest. (I learned this first hand.)

Before starting any planting, it is essential to carefully evaluate the soil to ensure that it is suitable for the crop we want to plant. We must be attentive to possible pests that may interfere with our crop, such as the bachaco, the ant, and the mountain hopper, among others. We must look for effective ways to control and prevent the appearance of these pests. Once we have evaluated the soil and prevented and controlled pests, we can start with the peace of mind of knowing that we have taken the necessary measures to ensure a good harvest.

Be careful with this! Insect pests such as ants, bachaco and mountain hoppers are seen as a minor problem in the city, but in the countryside, they can become a big headache if not detected and treated in time, they can seriously damage our crops and cause us to lose a great deal of capital. For this reason, watch for signs of pests and take immediate action to control them. In 2017, the country was in an even more severe crisis situation than it is now, which made compost hard to come by. In addition, cash shortages and the devaluation of the bolivar made it almost impossible to get the money to buy it.

Fortunately, in difficult times there is always the possibility of finding unexpected allies. In my case, my cousin had been farming for years and had contacts with reliable suppliers who continued to supply him in spite of the situation. It was thanks to this alliance that I was able to get the complete fertilizer I so badly needed for my garden. I seized the opportunity and worked together with my cousins, who provided me with what I needed to achieve my goal.

Finally

I would not have been able to start farming without the support of my grandparents, who made their 120 hectares of land and their small lake available to me. They guided me and taught me their methods, they taught me according to their experience learned throughout their lives. I received contributions based on the experiences of many of my cousins who to this day continue to work in the sector.
