Baby Goats, Flowers and Herbs

This past week I was invited by a friend to visit her new community garden. When she told me there would be baby goats and tons of flowers, intrigued.

And the baby goats did not dissapoint. They were playful and friendly and I hardly had time to take a picture in all the excitement. Here they are in all their rambunctious glory:

After a little tour where I met the animals and saw the different zones of operation we got down to doing some actual farming. In the field we installed posts to trellis the recently planted tomatoes. And in the demonstrative garden we harvested the fava beans and composted the remaining stalks + leaves.

The community garden is a new project in a very old location. This place was once a dairy and farmhouse that is now being transformed into a demonstration herb and vegetable garden and hobby farm (thus the three baby goats).

The vegetable field is just starting out but the herb and pollinator garden are well established and bursting with medicine and flowers.

There was a mix or colorful ornamental flowers as well as an entire raised bed of milkweed to attract migrating monach butterflies.

At the moment this garden isn't producing much food, not yet, but what it is doing is inspiring the surrounding community with beautifuly designed and edible landscapes, and I hope this posts inspires you all too!
