Happy beginning of the week gardening lovers, it is a pleasure for me to be here again, to share a little of the gardens of the urbanization and especially because it is about some plants that have years in the gardens and with which my mother is very jealous and they are the Lilies of the photographs.
Feliz comienzo de semana amantes de la jardinería, es un placer para mi estar nuevamente por acá, para compartir un poco de los jardines de la urbanización y sobre todo porque se trata de unas plantas que tienen años en los jardines y con las cuales mi madre es muy celosa y son los Lirios de las fotografías.
Since my childhood I remember seeing lilies in the gardens in front of the building, which says that they were planted before my birth, but I always saw them white flowers, with long petals and stamen with thin filament and the antenna with yellow tips, but, although I was a child I also noticed that not all gave flowers, but all of them were that color or so I thought.
Desde mi niñez recuerdo ver lirios en los jardines frente al edificio, lo que dice que los sembraron antes de mi nacimiento, pero yo siempre les vi flores blancas, con pétalos largos y estambre con delgado filamento y la antena con puntas amarillas, pero, aunque era una niña llegué también notar que no todas daban flores, pero mi todas era de ese color o eso creí.
To my surprise, a few years ago I saw that the lilies began to give flowers of another tone and shape, at first I thought that my mother had planted others, but when I saw them so full of leaves I realized that they were not new plants, they were already there, but simply had not given flowers, plus I noticed that the plant with white flowers has wider leaves and purple flowers have thinner leaves.
Para mi sorpresa, hace unos años vi que los lirios comenzaron a dar flores de otro tono y forma, al comienzo creí que mi madre había sembrado otros, pero al ver os tan llenos de hojas me di cuanta de no eran plantas nuevas, era que ya estaban allí, pero simplemente no habían dado flores, además de que detallé que la planta de las de flores blancas tiene hojas mas anchas y las de flores moradas hojas mas delgadas.
On the other hand, I had been trying to photograph them for a while, but these flowers are very delicate, the heavy rains make them faint and here it has been raining constantly, so as soon as I saw these flowers I ran to take pictures of them because I did not know if it would rain in the afternoon as it has become a habit lately.
Por otro lado, tenía ya un tiempo intentando fotografiarlas, pero estas flores son muy delicadas, las fuertes lluvias las desmayan y aquí ha estado lloviendo de manera constante por eso en lo que vi estas flores corrí a tomarles las fotografías pues no sabía si en la tarde llovería como últimamente se ha hecho costumbre.
Also, when I went home I was asking my mother about this tone of the lilies and she pointed out that they had been planted for years and had not wanted to give flowers until she began to talk to the plants when she comes down to water them, change their soil, remove them, strain them potassium or urea and that was how she finally got these beautiful flowers to appear.
Además, al subir a casa le estuve preguntando a mi madre sobre este tono de los lirios y ella me señalo que tenían ya años sembrados y no habían querido dar flores hasta que ella comenzó a conversar con las plantas cuando baja a regarlas, cambiar su tierra, removerlas, colarles potasio o urea y así fue como logro que al fin estas hermosas flores aparecieran.
Now, it seems appropriate to mention that the main reason why lilies were planted in these gardens is to prevent the ground from giving way, since the land where the urbanization was built is sloping, that is to say that it had to be flattened, but there are gardens that retain that slope, and when it rains the land tends to erode, so one way to avoid this is with this type of plants, whose root is similar to a radish or beet and hold the ground, Here we have had some difficulties because we had planted some ornamental plants that helped a lot avoiding the erosion, but the neighbors said that they were the ones that brought the mosquitoes and they took them out by the root, the funniest thing is that there are the same or more mosquitoes, they almost do not open their windows, neither before nor now and the land is eroding a lot, since they took out those plants, this last one is really worrying.
Ahora bien, me parece apropiado mencionar que la principal razón por la que se sembraron lirios en estos jardines es para evitar que el terreno ceda, ya que el terreno donde se construyó la urbanización es inclinado, es decir que su tuvo que aplanar, pero hay jardines que conservan esa inclinación, y al llover los terrenos tienden a erosionar, así que una manera de evitar esto es con este tipo de plantas, cuya raíz es similar a un rábano o remolacha y sostienen el terreno, aunque siempre hace falta otras plantas, aquí hemos tenido algunas dificultades porque habíamos sembrado unas plantas ornamentales que ayudaban mucho evitando la erosión, pero los vecinos decían que eran las que traían los mosquitos y las sacaron de raíz, lo mas gracioso es que hay igual o mas cantidad de mosquitos, ellos casi no abren sus ventanas, ni antes, ni ahora y el terreno se está erosionando mucho, desde que sacaron esas plantas, esto último si es preocupante.
