In a few days will begin the EVO, the biggest event for fighting games in the video game industry, where franchises like Tekken, Street Fighter, Guilty Gear and many more make an appearance to show a close competition of the best players in the world, and just wanted to talk a little about the event itself and the growth that has been gradually gaining thanks to the internet and social networks.
Talking about the genre, fighting games are one of the most important, although it may not seem like it, it is one of those games where you can really show your skills without any advantage or disadvantage for the players, or at least that's how I see it. Street Fighter was the one that popularized the genre and also inspired other franchises that would be their own competition, so much was the boom that tournaments began to be held to decide the best players of the game. We all remember the kind of move that Daigo did in Street Fighter 3, which even today still has its good reproductions, it was undoubtedly a milestone and another step further for the genre in the professional field of video games.
At first many would think what's so entertaining about watching a guy playing video games, but over time youtube and other platforms gave rise to this to be normalized within the internet, because video games are the only medium that you can approach in different ways, it is not like a movie, which will always be the same tape with the same ending, it is interactive, therefore the experience depends a lot on each person, and that's what I think popularized this type of videos. With fighting games a surprisingly large community has been created, also thanks to the fact that you can play them online and duel against people from all over the world. In these communities you can see tips, advice, recommendations and others that can help you become better at any of these games, and this is something that should be highly valued, I say this especially because it is known how toxic other communities tend to be.
In this kind of tournaments you can see how players master the characters, and even if they use the same character, you can see completely different styles, it is a way to see how these people approach the mechanics. In fact there are people who still feel rejection to this type of tournaments, but the fact is that there are people who get ahead thanks to these, there are people specialized in this type of games that live from this, like Lol esports teams or games like that, they are people who take seriously the competition because this has a prize, and it also happens with fighting games, it is not the same for example to play soccer for fun than for work.
Something I love about fighting games is how well balanced they are, obviously not all of them, but I am talking specifically about the ones that are in this kind of tournaments, because a match is not decided by your stats or whatever your character has. It's not that you're going to win because your character has more level or things like that, it doesn't happen here, all the characters in a good fighting game are useful, none is bad, each character has its advantages and disadvantages, what will decide if you win or not is your ability with that character, and that's something that I like a lot even if it seems obvious.
Anyway, there's nothing left for the event, and I can only say that it's a good thing they will do it with all the situation that is happening. Another thing I like a lot is the excitement of the public in this kind of events, it adds a lot to the games, it's a pity that this year it will be online, but it's what it is, health is more important.

Dentro de unos días dará comienzo el EVO, el mayor evento para los juegos de lucha que hay en la industria de los videojuegos, donde franquicias como Tekken, Street Fighter, Guilty Gear y muchas más hacen acto de presencia para mostrar una competencia reñida de los mejores jugadores del mundo, y precisamente quería hablar un poco sobre el evento en sí mismo y el crecimiento que poco a poco se ha ido ganando gracias al internet y las redes sociales.
Hablando ya del género, los juegos de lucha son de los más importantes aunque no lo parezca, es de esos juegos donde de verdad puedes demostrar tus habilidades sin que haya alguna ventaja o desventaja para los jugadores, o al menos así lo veo yo. Street Fighter fue el que popularizó el género y también inspiró a otras franquicias que serían su propia competencia, tanto fue el boom que se comenzaron a realizar torneos para decidir los mejores jugadores del juego. Todos recordamos la clase de jugada que hizo Daigo en Street Fighter 3, que incluso hoy en día sigue teniendo sus buenas reproducciones, fue sin duda un hito y otro escalón más para el género en el ámbito profesional de los videojuegos.
En un principio muchos se pensarían qué tiene de entretenido ver a un tipo jugando videojuegos, pero con el tiempo youtube y otras plataformas dieron pie a que esto se normalizara dentro de internet, porque los videojuegos son el único medio que puedes abordar de distintas maneras, no es como una película, que siempre será la misma cinta con el mismo final, es interactivo, por lo tanto la experiencia depende mucho de cada quien, y es lo que pienso que popularizó este tipo de videos. Con los juegos de lucha se ha creado una comunidad sorprendentemente grande, también gracias a que puedes jugarlos online y batirte en duelos contra personas de todo el mundo. En estas comunidades puedes ver consejos, tips, recomendaciones y demás que te pueden ayudar a volverte mejor en cualquier juego de estos, y esto es algo que se deberia de valorar mucho, lo digo especialmente porque se sabe lo tóxicas que suelen ser otras comunidades.
En este tipo de torneos puedes ver cómo los jugadores dominan los personajes, e incluso aunque usen el mismo personaje, se ven estilos completamente distintos, es una manera de contemplar como abordan las mecánicas este tipo de personas. De hecho hay gente que aún siente rechazo a este tipo de torneos, pero el caso es que hay gente que sale adelante gracias a estos, hay personas especializadas en este tipo de juegos que viven de esto, como los equipos de esports de Lol o juegos por el estilo, son personas que se toman enserio la competencia porque esto tiene un premio, y pasa también con los juegos de lucha, no es lo mismo por ejemplo jugar fútbol por diversión que por trabajo.
Algo que me encanta de los juegos de lucha es lo bien equilibrados que están, obviamente no todos, pero hablo en específico de los que estan en este tipo de torneos, porque una partida no la decide tus estadísticas o lo que sea que tenga tu personaje. No es que vayas a ganar porque tu personaje tenga más nivel o cosas así, aquí no pasa, todos los personajes en un buen juego de lucha son útiles, ninguno es malo, cada personaje tiene sus ventajas y desventajas, lo que decidirá si ganas o no es tu habilidad con dicho personaje, y eso es algo que me gusta bastante aunque parezca obvio.
En fin, ya falta nada para el evento, y solo queda decir que menos mal lo harán con toda la situación que está sucediendo. Otra de las cosas que me gusta mucho es la emoción del público en este tipo de eventos, agrega mucho a las partidas, es una lástima que este año será online, pero es lo que hay, es más importante la salud.
