Sanitarium fight is easy compared to Endless Paths level 5
In the search for the man in the ruins, Lady Webb mentions it is the cruel Thaos ix Arkannon, grandmaster of the Leaden Key who is one of the most dangerous men alive. So the party are led to the Brackenbury Sanitarium.
After some running around and gaining entry to the back part, to check up on Caedman Azo per the head wardens request, Azo seems to be sweating out of fear that he will be told to the head warden.
"How dare you come down here and meddle, you smug cretin! My research is much more important than you know!" shouted Caedman Azo before a short conversation led to being told where more about Thaos and the people being experimented on in here.
Thaos is rumoured to be hiding by possession of another body, so talking to others in their cells and peering into the souls of patients like Gram would reveal he was here...
At the end of the hall is patient Uscgrim who TheGoliath reached out for his soul to find out it indeed was Thaos. He did not like being found, he left that body and passed through and possessed all around to turn them into mad people that would attack the party.
Crackling Bolt was the first cast this time around to get a straight hit to a couple of the enemies, getting some pain into these patients right away. Then after they killed off one patient and had the attention of some closeby, Eder and TheGoliath ran into a group a little further away.
It allowed TheGoliath to cast Dimensional Shift which helped stun enemies and do great damage while shifting his spot with Eder and getting out of harms way. As he moved a slight bit away and cast Ray of Fire, Kana had cast his Wurm summoning chant and it was brutal to the poor patients that had been possessed to fight for Thaos as a distraction, while he got away.
"I thought it was going to be a rough one with how much we had to face back at the Sanitarium, but that is nothing compared to what we are bound to face even further down below in the Endless Paths" Kana announced as they headed down into level 3 of the Endless Paths to finish it off before level 4.
In the last half of level 3 were still quite a few Black Ooze and ogres around the many corners left to explore. The Black Ooze enemies were easy to kill now, but could still output some decently damaging moves. The ogres were now becoming easy enough to kill with just attacking normally, so the rest of this level 3 was pretty straight forward... but it always gets harder when you delve further down.
"Here you go Kana, we have made nice progress and are on level 4 of the Endless Paths now. How do you feel as we get closer to the master below?" TheGoliath asked.
"It's been a cake walk but I suspect we will need to keep getting stronger before we get further down so we don't all die a miserable death" replied Kana.
Trolls and Black Ooze were present with the tough spot coming from a troll and three Black Ooze being grouped and quick damage coming out from the acid spits the Ooze all do. Pallegina got taken down quite low but the parties healing made up for it before a fireball and some attacks came and tore into the health of their enemies and they could move on.
Of course before they got to Endless Paths level 5 would be some additional fighting, firstly with some wood beetles where one was converted to the parties side thanks to the dominate chance on TheGoliath's scepter, which this fight also include more Black Ooze including a greater one.
Level 5 had a strange darkness come over everyone, with fear and worry about what lies waiting for them. "We need to be careful as I don't like this darkness I am sensing" claimed Pallegina before the party all agreed and continued.
It started off alright and easy, mainly seeing Xaurip but they had Skirmishers and Priests to make it a little tougher... Still they were destroying them all and continuing on.
They reached that sinister darkness, it was a drake that had a group of Xaurip surrounding the area, a quick chat turned into a massive battle.
Everything was being cast with nobody holding back, Hiravias even cast one of his new abilities, Boiling Spray which did a lot of damage and burning as well. Eventually the Wurms and Human Skeletons were summoned by Kana's chants to help finish off this dreadful and tough fight, and soon after, the Drake went down after Pallegina had been knocked down first and everyone would be happy to get out of this place for a while, to rest and grow stronger.
"We were lucky to have the healing to help throughout that fight. A Drake I think would kill off many parties" said Eder as the group collected all the loot, walked off and quickly returned to the surface to rest up in the mansion and be happy to have gotten out alive.
