I just played “The Flame in the Flood” for 4-5 hours and really enjoyed it.
The Flame in the Flood offers a unique survival experience with its challenging gameplay and visually striking with its hand-drawn art style which is From the Art Director of BioShock and a team of veterans of the BioShock, Halo, Guitar Hero and Rock Band series as the Steam page says.
In this game, players navigate through a procedurally generated river system like all other rogue-like games, which means you have a different experience each time you start and there are various biomes, weather patterns, and wildlife to contend with.
The survival part is about scavenging resources from the environment and crafting tools, clothing, and supplies to aid in your journey and don't forget to manage your inventory carefully. Also, The game features a dynamic weather system and day-night cycle, such as rainstorms and cold nights, which can impact health and resource availability, which affect gameplay.
Like other rouge-like games, there is permadeath mechanic, so every decision matters, and resource management is crucial for survival.
By the way, Players are accompanied by a loyal dog named Aesop, who assists you in your journey.
