Zombi - The Original from 1990 for Amiga, Atari St, CPC and MS-DOS.

The cities are overrun by hordes of horribly disfigured corpses with nothing in mind but to eat the living - reason enough for our heroes Alexandre, Jannik, Sylvie and Patrick to flee with a helicopter. But what to do when the gasoline is running low?

The four decide to land on the roof of an already zombie-infested shopping center. Now the player should help to get gasoline. When browsing the shopping centers, all 4 characters are controlled by a mouse. A click on the corresponding portrait at the top of the screen is enough and you can see what is happening from the perspective of the selected person. So it is of course possible to have the different characters perform completely different actions almost at the same time.

Directional arrows on the edge of the action window are used to move around. Picking up or using various objects is easily done with a click of the mouse. To open drawers, simply click on them directly in the action window. The department store has 4 floors + basement which is connected by escalators and an elevator. In all sorts of shops, you can now equip yourself with various items. Which are more or less useful as the game progresses.

The first way should lead to the gun shop on floor number two, in order to later kill the zombies with a headshot! The graphics are okay, the zombies are nice and creepy to look at and are animated to cram through the corridors, but unfortunately, the graphics window is much too small. When it comes to sound, there are plenty of small but nice effects, and the title melody is also very consistent.

And the gameplay? The story largely sticks to the movie plot "Dawn of the Dead" (1979). Although certain actions depending on the time shown, there isn't much to do besides running around, picking up things, and killing zombies. Nevertheless, the programmers have managed to give the game so much atmosphere that Zombi is just fun.
