[Esp-Eng] Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge: Day 2 - My First Video Game

Continuando con el Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge, hoy les compartiré mi primer videojuego, o en este caso mis primeros videojuegos. Cuando recibí como regalo la consola SNES, junto a ella venían varios juegos, dentro de los que recuerdo estaban:

• Super Mario World
• Top Gear
• The Lion King
• Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
• Mortal Kombat 3
• Secret of mana (¡juegazo!)
• Killer Instinct
• Tecmo Baseball
• Super Mario All-Stars
• Scooby-Doo

Continuing with the Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge, I will share my first video game with you, or in this case, my first video game. When I received as a gift the SNES console, along with it came several games, among which I remember were:

Hablar de cada uno de ellos, probablemente sería muy largo, porque tengo recuerdos de cada uno, pero en esta ocasión me enfocaré en el primer juego que comencé a jugar y que me atrapó totalmente, Super Mario World.

Talking about each one of them would probably be very long because I have memories of each one, but this time I will focus on the first game I started playing, and that caught me totally, Super Mario World.

Creo que este juego no necesita presentación, la mayoría de los viejos jugadores los han de recordar con mucho cariño. Recuerdo que este juego lo inserté en la consola porque me llamó la atención ver a nuestro amigo bigotón arriba del dinosaurio. Al encender la SNES el impacto de las imágenes tan coloridas y esa música tan característica me atrajo totalmente.

I think this game needs no introduction; most of the senior players will remember it fondly. I remember that I inserted this game in the console because it caught my attention to see our mustachioed friend on top of the dinosaur. When I turned on the SNES, the colorful images' impact and the characteristic music attracted me.

Al inicio no entendía cuál era la historia del juego, pero descubrí que no tenía que tocar a los dragoncitos y a las tortugas que salían en el escenario porque si no iba a morir. También entendía que no debía caerme porque perdía vidas 😂.

In the beginning, I didn't understand what the story of the game was, but I discovered that I didn't have to touch the tiny dragons and turtles that appeared on the stage because otherwise, I would die. I also understood that I shouldn't fall down because I would lose lives 😂.

Básicamente, Super Mario World consiste en ir pasando nivel tras nivel para desbloquear nuevos lugares, castillos de fantasmas, interruptores de colores para habilitar ciertos bloques, zonas secretas y especiales. Recuerdo que se me hacía un juego interminable porque cada día avanzaba constantemente, luego descubría de casualidad llaves que me abrían caminos diferentes así como ciertos elementos del juego que me llevaban a rincones donde cruzaba puertas para salir por un lugar nuevo que no había descubierto.

Basically, Super Mario World consists of passing level after level to unlock new places, ghost castles, colored switches to enable certain blocks, secret and special areas. I remember that it was an endless game because every day, I was continually advancing. I discovered by chance keys that opened different paths and some aspects of the game that led me to corners where I crossed doors to exit through a new place that I had not discovered.

Cada avance que hacía era algo emocionante, ya que en aquellos tiempos determinar los trucos y los escondites no era tan sencillo, casi no había información a la mano como hoy en día. La emoción que sentí cuando descubrí un mundo en forma de estrella fue increíble, y luego más cuando vi que podía obtener Yoshi's de diferentes colores que dependiendo de la tortuga que se tragaran tenían una habilidad diferente.

Every advance I made was exciting since in those days, determining the tricks and hiding places was not so easy; there was almost no information at hand like today. When I discovered a star-shaped world, the excitement I felt was incredible. Then more so when I saw that I could get Yoshi's of different colors depending on the turtle they swallowed had another ability.

Un día mi primo me ayudo a encontrar el camino para el mundo especial, el cual creo que son de los niveles más complicados en ese juego, recuerdo que cuando lo termine mi pantalla cambió de color y ahora ya no me aparecían tortugas sino cabezas asimilando a Mario. Creía que había descompuesto el juego jajaja.

One day my cousin helped me find the way to the special world, which I think is one of the most complicated levels in that game; when I finished it, my screen changed color, and now I didn't see turtle heads like Mario. I thought I had broken the game, hahaha.

En fin, gracias a este juego, a sus colores, a su sonido, tomé el gusto por las consolas y sobre todo los juegos de Mario Bros. Espero les haya gustado, gracias por leer.
