What's up my friends from Hive? Today I'm here to share with you a great game that I loved so much and that I would play again a thousand times, if it's possible.
I played this game about half a year ago and I loved the story, I don't know how I didn't think of this game before to share it with you. It's actually a trilogy, but since I'm an asshole I skipped the first game and went straight to the second one hahaha.
I'm going to be honest, this game was recommended to me by many people long before I finally downloaded it and played it. The truth is that they told me to play it and I didn't pay attention, it just didn't arouse my interest. But one day I said "who cares, let's try it", it was the best decision I made. So I am going to tell you about the history of the game.
This wonderful third person action video game was created by the company 2K Games back in August 2010. It takes place in the New York of the 40's and 50's, but in the game it is called Empire Bay. I really don't know why in video games sometimes they change the names of the cities, if anyone knows this tell me in the comments haha.
The story of the game is about Vito Scaletta, a Sicilian who emigrated with his parents in search of the American dream, but not everything is perfect for them as they dreamed, because when they arrived at Empire Bay they had no choice but to live in a neighborhood with many conflicts.
Vito being only a child met his friend Joe Barbaro, together they grew up and together then began to commit robberies and others to survive, until Vito is taken by the police. He spends a few years in jail and when he gets out he is recruited for the Second World War (luckily he doesn't die in the war hahaha).
After going through all these early turbulences in his life, Vito arrives in Empire Bay once again and this time trying to lead a better life, even his mom asks him to please work honestly like his father, but guess what happened? Joe Barbaro showed up again in Vito's life as his old friend and bad habits, only this time it was worse.
Right away Joe lets Vito know about everything he has done and is doing since they parted ways. He shows him the world of the mafia and offers him to get into the business since he has a lot of contacts. The money involved was a lot and it was hard for Vito to turn down such an offer knowing that his family was struggling financially, so he embarks into the world of the mafia, and this is where this great game starts.
In the story we will start as nobody, until we become one of the most recognized guys among the mafia families. We will have to do a lot of dirty jobs for the mafia to be able to climb the ladder and gain the trust of the families. There will be missions from stealing cars to killing members of the mafia, only it will be very difficult. There will be shootouts and incredible confrontations in which you will have to have a lot of skill to survive. And once in a while Vito will be on the verge of death in the story, you will have to save him hahaha.
I think the best thing about the game is that the story is immersive, there are always many scenes in each story mission, which makes it feel like a movie. Also there are no distractions in the game, even though it's a free world that you can explore, it always keeps you focused on the main plot.
It's not like GTA which is full of side missions and too many things to do without going through the main story. Here in Mafia 2 there is not much to do on the outside, just get the Playboy magazines and the "Wanted" collectibles.
As for the sound and graphics, the truth is that they are excellent, there are many songs of the time and the environment is perfectly conditioned to the 50's, vehicles, clothing, everything in general.
The only downside I've seen to the game is that the city is poorly utilized. As I said before there are no side quests and not much to do, just the main story. This is good for keeping you immersed in the story, but I would have definitely liked the game to have a lot more to do outside of the main story. Otherwise everything in the game is great including the gameplay.
I know many will wonder if the game has multiplayer. The truth is it doesn't and I have no idea why. It would have been great to see deathmatch game modes between one mafia and another. Who knows? It would have been nice, but they didn't do it.
The game is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS Classic. Last year came out the version of Mafia 2: Definitive Edition, they remastered the graphics to 4K, but the truth is I have not played this version because my PC does not meet the requirements hahaha.

Que tal mis amigos de Hive? Hoy estoy por acá compartiendoles un juegazo que me ha encantado demasiado y que volveria a jugar mil veces, si es posible.
Este juego lo jugué hace medio año aproximadamente y me encantó la historia, no se como no se me había ocurrido antes este videojuego para compartirlo con ustedes. En realidad es una trilogía, pero como yo soy pendejo me salte el primer juego y me fui directamente al segundo jajaja.
Les voy a ser sincero, este juego me lo recomendó mucha gente mucho antes de al fin descargarlo y jugarlo. La verdad me decían que lo jugara y no hacía caso, simplemente no despertaba mi interés. Pero un día dije "que mas da, vamos a probarlo", fue la mejor decisión que tomé. Así que voy a contarles sobre la historia del juego.
Este maravilloso videojuego de acción en tercera persona fue creado por la empresa 2K Games por allá en agosto del 2010. Se desarrolla en la Nueva York de los años 40 y 50, pero en el juego recibe el nombre de Empire Bay. La verdad no se por qué en los videojuegos algunas veces se les cambia los nombres a la ciudades, si alguien sabe esto díganme en los comentarios jaja.
La historia del juego trata sobre Vito Scaletta, un siciliano que a emigrado junto con sus padres en busca del sueño americano, pero no todo sale perfecto para ellos como lo soñaban, ya que al llegar a Empire Bay no les quedo de otra que vivir en un barrio con muchos conflictos.
Vito siendo solo un niño conoció a su amigo Joe Barbaro, juntos crecieron y juntos luego comenzaron a cometer robos y demás para sobrevivir, hasta que Vito es tomado por la policía. Pasa unos años en la cárcel y al salir es reclutado para la Segunda Guerra Mundial (por suerte no muere en la guerra jajaja).
Luego de haber pasado por todas estas turbulencias tempranas en su vida, Vito llega a Empire Bay una vez mas y esta vez intentando llevar una vida mejor, hasta su mamá le pide que por favor trabaje honradamente como su padre, pero adivinen que pasó... Joe Barbaro apareció de nuevo en la vida de Vito como su viejo amigo y malas mañas, solo que esta vez era peor.
De inmediato Joe le hace saber a Vito sobre todo lo que ha hecho y hace desde que se separaron. Le muestra el mundo de la mafia y le ofrece entrar al negocio ya que tiene muchos contactos. El dinero que había de por medio era mucho y para Vito era difícil rechazar una oferta así sabiendo que su familia tenía muchas dificultades económicas, así que se embarca en el mundo de la mafia, y aquí es donde inicia este juegazo.
En la historia comenzaremos como un don nadie, hasta convertirnos en uno de los tipos más reconocidos entre las familias mafiosas. Tendremos que hacer muchos trabajos sucios para la mafia para poder escalar posiciones y ganarnos la confianza de las familias. Habrá misiones desde robar coches hasta matar a miembros de la mafia, solo que será muy difícil. Habrá tiroteos y enfrentamientos increíbles en los que tendrás que tener mucha habilidad para sobrevivir. Y de vez en cuando Vito estará al borde de la muerte en la historia, tendrás que salvarlo jajaja.
Creo que lo mejor del juego es que la historia es envolvente, siempre hay muchas escenas en cada misión de la historia, lo que hace que parezca una película. Además no hay ningún tipo de distracción en el juego, a pesar de que es un mundo libre que puedes explorar, siempre te mantiene enfocado en la trama principal.
No es como el GTA que está lleno de misiones secundarias y demasiadas cosas por hacer sin necesidad de pasar la historia principal. Acá en el Mafia 2 no hay mucho que hacer por fuera, solo conseguir las revistas Playboy y los coleccionables de "Se Busca".
En cuanto al sonido y los gráficos la verdad son excelentes, hay muchas rolas de la época y el ambiente está perfectamente acondicionado a los años 50, los vehículos, la vestimenta, todo en general.
La única desventaja que le he visto al juego es que la ciudad está mal aprovechada. Como he dicho antes no hay misiones secundarias ni mucho que hacer, solo la historia principal. Esto es bueno para mantenerte inmerso en la historia, pero sin dudas me hubiera gustado que el juego tuviera muchas mas cosas que hacer por fuera de la historia principal. Del resto todo en el juego es magnifico incluyendo la jugabilidad.
Se que muchos se preguntaran si el juego tiene multijugador. La verdad es que no tiene y no tengo idea de por qué. Hubiera sido excelente ver modos de juego de duelo a muerte entre una mafia y otra. Quien sabe? Hubiera sido muy bien, pero no lo hicieron.
El juego se encuentra para PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS Classic. El año pasado salió la versión de Mafia 2: Definitive Edition, remasterizaron los gráficos a 4K, pero la verdad no he jugado esta versión porque mi PC no cumple los requisitos jajaja.
