Hive Gaming Community Contest #4 - Villains & Boss Fights

Hello gamers! The bi-weekly contests apparently wasn't so bi-weekly at all which is why it's long overdue to have another contest. I thought being on holidays would make it easy to keep these going but sadly it hasn't been a focus while traveling. Traveling is all done now though so let's get one going!

Please read through all the rules for participation. We've seen a lot of people skipping out on steps that makes both curation and picking out winners difficult. This time we will be skipping out on people who don't go through all the steps.

Contest Theme

Theme: Who is your favorite video game villain and/or boss fight?
Word limit: 1500 words.

Protagonists are cool and all but how about them villains? We all love Super Mario but who would he have been without Bowser? Who would Batman be without the Joker? Villains play an important role in the narrative of a story and they help create memorable moments.

In this contest we want to hear about your favorite villains and/or your favorite boss fights! These often go hand in hand so I saw it fitting to combine the two. You can choose to exclude one for the other or make your post about both. If you choose to write about both it doesn't have to be about the same villain and corresponding boss fight.

What was the villains motives? What was the villains methods? Did the villain help shape the protagonist in any way? Was it a hard boss fight? What importance did the boss fight have to the story? How did you go about beating the boss? How did the boss fight affect the game? These are just some questions to get your thoughts going. You don't have to answer them. You choose the focus of your post.

Since we're sort of having two themes in this contest we raised the word limit to 1500! Same rules as always. As long as the English version doesn't exceed 1500 words you can still make your post in several languages. You're not under any obligation to write 1500 words either. A 400 word post can be just as good as a 1500 word post. It's all about the content!

Shout out to @lionsaturbix for the idea!

What's in it for you?

Will there be rewards? Yes, and no. As with every post in the community entries will be eligible for curation. Curation is in no way guaranteed just by entering. Posts will still have to be of quality and be made with an effort. All entries must be your own original content. As always, engagement both inside and outside of the community will also be considered. Any attempts to partake just for curation rewards are easily recognizable and will be ignored.

In addition, all the rewards (100%) of this post will be used in the prize pool which means the winners will receive:

1st Place: 35% of the rewards of this post + 5 HIVE
2nd Place: 25% of the rewards of this post + 3 HIVE
3rd Place: 20% of the rewards of this post + 2 HIVE
4th Place: 10% of the rewards of this post
5th Place: 10% of the rewards of this post

How to take part:

  1. Brainstorm.

  2. Write a post in the Hive Gaming Community where you talk about your favorite video game villain and/or boss fight.

  3. Your post must include reasoning and argumentation based on your choices.

  4. Create an unique title for your post! Do NOT include the word "contest" or anything linking it to this initiative in the title.

  5. Tag your post with #BestGamingVillain

  6. Leave a link to your post in the comments to this post.

All of the above must be fulfilled for your post to be considered for curation and entry.

Extra notes!

  • Only one submission per user. Extra submissions will be ignored for both curation and entry. We will always consider your first submission as part of the contest.
  • Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any way or form. If you're not able to create your own work I would advise you not to enter. All entries will be checked and anyone found plagiarizing or stealing content from any source will be disqualified and muted/blacklisted from the community. It's simply not worth it.

Entry will be closed when this post pays out, one week from now. You can still choose to make your post after this happens but that means you won't be considered for the prizes. Might still get curated though!

We're looking forward to seeing all your awesome and creative entries!
