Today I just heard some exciting news, Fruitlab the gaming site is about to create its very own blockchain token.
For those that don´t know, Fruitlab is a video streaming site where gamers can upload clips of their own gameplay. You earn a currency called PIPS by posting or watching videos and then exchange for gift cards, you can earn some income once you gain enough PIPS.
The items of course vary from region to region, you get Steam and Amazon cards, to PayPal and Visa. This is what the shop in my region looks like:
Now, this currency was not initially associated with crypto at all, but now they are plans to move it to a blockchain.
So, how does this work? First, they plan on converting PIPS of all users into tokens around November, not to mention they can still be exchanged in the shop even after conversion. But, supply will be limited as only a certain number of tokens will be minted, possibly to create value through scarcity since they are expected to be harder to mine over time.
They still haven´t mentioned what kind of blockchain they plan to convert though. I feel they´re still planning things, so we won´t get the big reveal until close to the deadline.
That being said, I´m curious to know what lead to this change. Perhaps they are trying to attract more users to the site, serving an alternative to sites like Youtube and Twitch. They already managed to invite some big streamers and even expanded the genre of videos besides just gameplay
Perhaps they wanna get into the crazy of blockchain social media with dapps like LBRY and even the Hive Blockchain, but with a focus on gaming. A Cryptocurrency created by gamers for gamers.
Only time will tell if this project will succeed, but I always welcome new ways to earn for content creators and see an expansion on the concept of a social media blockchain app. Also, it´s in line with my usual gaming content besides Youtube.
Plus since this is happening in November, it yet, this should give anyone enough time to earn as many PIPS as possible.
