This is it, folks! The final episode of TWAU season 1! I’ll be posting my new series of articles tomorrow called GamerGeek Talks, in case this is the first review you are turning into it, GamerGeek Talks will be me talking about games I have beaten, and will be some of the geekiest shit you will ever read. I will delve into the lore of the game (if there is any) other media that expands upon the story, and just details, easter eggs, and generally crap I find cool about the game! So be sure to check it out tomorrow! With nothing more to say, it’s time to review the final episode of TWAU Season 1! This is a disclaimer as this review WILL BE TALKING ABOUT SPOILERS!
At the conclusion of episode 4, we finally find The Crooked Man and all of his lieutenants, which all had familiar faces. There was the Dee’s, Bloody Mary, Jersey Devil, and our favorite sleaze bag Georgie. The Crooked Man wants to make a deal and here we find out who really murdered Faith. It was Georgie. The Crooked Man offers to give Georgie up, but things don’t go as plan as Georgie isn’t going down himself. He claims that The Crooked Man was the one that gave the order. And eventually things go sideways, which leaves us fighting our way out of this “meeting.”
Right away you’re left with a choice, The Crooked Man and Georgie are escaping in different cars (Georgie gets his gut cut wide open by Bigby in the previous encounter). We see Bigby wolf out and chase whoever you decide to go after. Now this scene had me wondering what the implications for Fabletown would be. Bigby, Wolfs out right in the streets of New York, and is climbing over and dodging cars.
Which ever choose you choose, you end up at the Pudding N Pie where Georgie and Vivian ran to. Georgie is dying. And after an argument between Georgie and her, Vivian decides to do something that might be deemed selfless. In order to explain, I need to delve back into the last episode. When Bigby meets with Nerrisa in Episode 4, he finds out the reason why she couldn’t talk about certain things was because of the ribbon on her neck. It was a spell and is what guaranteed The Pudding and Pie’s discretion policy.
It turns out Vivian’s ribbon was the original one. They were able to use it to create other ribbons like it, and removing hers would break the spell, but also kill her. And in a moment of defiance, she takes her ribbon off.
Afterwards Georgie gives us a full confession that he did kill Faith on The Crooked Man’s orders. He tried to justify it by saying it was either him or her. Then he did something good. He told us where The Crooked Man was probably lying low at. And then we’re given another choice. To let him bleed out slowly, or to take Georgie out of his misery.
This leads us to a Metalworks factory, and sure enough, The Crooked Man is there, along with Bloody Mary. This is the part of the episode I just absolutely loved as it showed Bigby in his true form. Bloody Mary was getting the best out of him, so he let his Big Bad Wolf show, and fully transformed into his true form.
Afterwards, we encounter The Crooked Man in an office and after a conversation; we are given a choice that can affect the ending, either kill him or take him back to The Business Office to be tried by a jury of his peers. Now this is where I’m going to leave this recap at as I don’t want to spoil the next part, but will talk about the overall ending.
A quick little snippet here, your actions towards the other Fables will depend on how they react during the trial, and whose side they take. At the end you decide what you want to happen to The Crooked Man.
After the trial you meet Nerissa, and find out why Faith and Lily were killed (I’ll talk about it in my GamerGeek Talks article!) but there is something that she says, before she eventually leaves to get on a bus. She leans into Bigby’s ear and whispers a familiar phrase, “You’re not as bad as everyone says you are.” I’m getting pretty excited about writing this and I’ve gotta keep my inner geek bottled up so I don’t reveal too much, but in my next article I will talk about what I think that meant!
Episode 5 wasn’t as action, and maybe not even drama heavy as other episodes, but it was an amazing conclusion to the game. There are no loose ends left, only things that we can speculate upon. For years fans have been debating on what that final line meant.
It was also awesome seeing Bigby as The Big Bad Wolf. He uses a power in the game that’s not really explained, but I will explain a more detail purpose about it, in my next article!
Episode 5 also had me questioning whether The Crooked Man was truly an evil character. He helped people who needed help, and sure he took advantage of some of them and his lieutenants were nothing more than thugs, but he did do some good. And he was only allowed to rise to power because of The Business Office, refusing to do their jobs, mostly Crane.
A quote popped into my head while thinking about this and that’s “The only thing necessary for evil to win is for good men to do nothing.” And we see how true that is in this series. Snow knows about the problems The Business Office faces, but never does enough to stop them. She even admits in one of the early episodes that they have been ignoring the needs of other Fables for way too long. People like Bluebeard got attention immediately, even at the ending of the game when Snow becomes Deputy Mayor, yet less influential Fables had to wait their turn to get an appointment. So it brings the question to mind, did anything truly change?
It is argued among TTG fans if this is the best TTG that was released, and I can see why. In all honesty, it’s in my top 3, and my top 3 are all tied with each other. For those that are wondering, the other two are Batman Season 2, and Game of Thrones. If you haven’t played this game, you need to go out and play it. Reading my reviews is good and all and I appreciate it, but I’ll always stand by the point it’s best if you experience a game yourself! Thanks for reading!

Al final del episodio 4, finalmente encontramos al Hombre Torcido y a todos sus lugartenientes, todos con rostros familiares. Estaban los Dee's, Bloody Mary, Jersey Devil y nuestro sórdido favorito, Georgie. El Hombre Torcido quiere hacer un trato y aquí descubrimos quién realmente asesinó a Faith. Era Georgie. El Hombre Torcido se ofrece a entregar a Georgie, pero las cosas no salen según lo planeado ya que Georgie no va a caer él mismo. Afirma que El Hombre Torcido fue quien dio la orden. Y eventualmente las cosas se tuercen, lo que nos deja peleando para salir de esta “reunión”.
Inmediatamente te queda una opción, The Crooked Man y Georgie están escapando en diferentes autos (Georgie recibe un corte de tripa por parte de Bigby en el encuentro anterior). Vemos a Bigby salir como un lobo y perseguir a quien sea que decidas perseguir. Ahora bien, esta escena me hizo preguntarme cuáles serían las implicaciones para Fabletown. Bigby, Wolf está justo en las calles de Nueva York, trepando y esquivando autos.
Elijas lo que elijas, terminarás en Pudding N Pie, donde corrieron Georgie y Vivian. Georgie se está muriendo. Y después de una discusión entre Georgie y ella, Vivian decide hacer algo que podría considerarse desinteresado. Para explicar, necesito profundizar en el último episodio. Cuando Bigby se encuentra con Nerrisa en el episodio 4, descubre que la razón por la que ella no podía hablar de ciertas cosas era por la cinta en su cuello. Fue un hechizo y es lo que garantizó la política de discreción de The Pudding and Pie.
Resulta que la cinta de Vivian era la original. Pudieron usarlo para crear otras cintas como esta, y quitar la de ella rompería el hechizo, pero también la mataría. Y en un momento de desafío, se quita la cinta.
Luego, Georgie nos da una confesión completa de que mató a Faith por orden del Hombre Torcido. Trató de justificarlo diciendo que era él o ella. Entonces hizo algo bueno. Nos dijo dónde probablemente estaba escondido El Hombre Torcido. Y luego se nos da otra opción. Dejar que se desangrara lentamente, o sacar a Georgie de su miseria.
Esto nos lleva a una fábrica metalúrgica y, efectivamente, The Crooked Man está allí, junto con Bloody Mary. Esta es la parte del episodio que me encantó, ya que mostraba a Bigby en su verdadera forma. Bloody Mary estaba sacando lo mejor de él, así que dejó que su Big Bad Wolf se mostrara y se transformó por completo en su verdadera forma.
Posteriormente, nos encontramos con El Hombre Torcido en una oficina y luego de una conversación; se nos da una opción que puede afectar el final, matarlo o llevarlo de regreso a la Oficina Comercial para ser juzgado por un jurado de sus compañeros. Ahora, aquí es donde voy a dejar este resumen, ya que no quiero estropear la siguiente parte, pero hablaré sobre el final general.
Un pequeño fragmento rápido aquí, tus acciones hacia las otras Fábulas dependerán de cómo reaccionen durante el juicio y de qué lado se pongan. Al final, tú decides qué quieres que le suceda a The Crooked Man.
Después del juicio, conoces a Nerissa y descubres por qué mataron a Faith y Lily (¡hablaré de eso en mi artículo de GamerGeek Talks!), pero hay algo que ella dice, antes de que finalmente se vaya para tomar un autobús. Se inclina hacia el oído de Bigby y susurra una frase familiar: "No eres tan malo como todos dicen que eres". Estoy muy emocionado por escribir esto y tengo que mantener mi geek interno reprimido para no revelar demasiado, ¡pero en mi próximo artículo hablaré sobre lo que creo que significó!
El episodio 5 no fue tan de acción, y tal vez ni siquiera tan dramático como otros episodios, pero fue una conclusión increíble para el juego. No quedan cabos sueltos, solo cosas sobre las que podemos especular. Durante años, los fanáticos han estado debatiendo qué significaba esa línea final.
También fue increíble ver a Bigby como The Big Bad Wolf. Él usa un poder en el juego que no está realmente explicado, ¡pero explicaré un propósito más detallado al respecto en mi próximo artículo!
El episodio 5 también me hizo cuestionar si The Crooked Man era realmente un personaje malvado. Ayudó a las personas que necesitaban ayuda, y seguro que se aprovechó de algunos de ellos y sus lugartenientes no eran más que matones, pero hizo algo bueno. Y solo se le permitió llegar al poder debido a The Business Office, negándose a hacer su trabajo, principalmente Crane.
Una cita me vino a la cabeza mientras pensaba en esto y es: "Lo único necesario para que el mal gane es que los hombres buenos no hagan nada". Y vemos cuán cierto es eso en esta serie. Snow conoce los problemas a los que se enfrenta The Business Office, pero nunca hace lo suficiente para detenerlos. Incluso admite en uno de los primeros episodios que han estado ignorando las necesidades de otras fábulas durante demasiado tiempo. Las personas como Bluebeard llamaron la atención de inmediato, incluso al final del juego cuando Snow se convirtió en teniente de alcalde, pero Fables menos influyentes tuvo que esperar su turno para obtener una cita. Así que me trae a la mente la pregunta, ¿realmente cambió algo?
Se discute entre los fanáticos de TTG si este es el mejor TTG que se lanzó, y puedo ver por qué. Con toda honestidad, está en mi top 3, y mis 3 top están empatados entre sí. Para aquellos que se preguntan, los otros dos son Batman Season 2 y Game of Thrones. Si no has jugado este juego, debes salir y jugarlo. Leer mis reseñas es bueno y todo, y lo aprecio, ¡pero siempre mantendré el punto de que es mejor si experimentas un juego tú mismo! ¡Gracias por leer!
